On Steam, there is currently a hidden gem available for strategy game players, where you must save humanity from extinction.
What kind of game is this? Ixion is a strategy game on Steam that revolves around managing a space station. Serving as a modern Noah’s Ark, the space station Tiqqun acts as a refuge for humanity. However, the space station is merely a prototype with many pitfalls, and it is up to your skills to manage it properly.
Ixion describes itself as a city-building simulation, although in this case, it is less about beautiful places and more about sheer survival. Events can occur at any time that affect the space station and its crew, and your task is to constantly adapt to the situations and master them.

Environmental Protection or Research
What makes the game so special? A central element of Ixion is the constant balancing act between environmental protection and scientific progress. As the administrator of the Tiqqun, you must extract resources to expand the station, research new technologies, and improve your chances of survival.
However, every extraction project has consequences: If you neglect the environment, you risk catastrophic damage to the station, while being too cautious can hinder your progress.
You are therefore constantly faced with strategic decisions of which you do not know the outcome. You must decide when and where to establish mines, how to utilize energy sources, and which research projects are the most important.
Your decisions are simultaneously judged by the crew of your station, who may rebel against you if you act too recklessly. Your research can solve many problems but requires time and resources for which you must make compromises.
This conflict between short-term survival and long-term sustainability makes Ixion so exciting and adds replayability, as you can try out different strategies in a new playthrough.
Ixion has been available since the Steam Spring Sale at a new price of €13.59, making it cheaper than ever before. This price is valid until April 7 on Steam, before the space strategy game rises again to its base price of €33.99.
Ixion is still unknown to many fans, thus it is considered a hidden gem for strategy fans. If you are currently unsure which game to play next, check out our strategy list: The 15 Best Strategy Games for PC 2025
