A coming game on Steam sends players into a dark world full of dangers. In the mix of horror game and platformer, light is your best friend.
What game is it? Ayasa: Shadows of Silence is an upcoming game from developer Aya Games. It is a platformer that at first glance resembles genre representatives like Limbo.
This means: You travel through a mysterious world, seek shelter from enemies, and solve puzzles. The aforementioned world stands out in Ayasa, as it is unusually dark and reminds in its aesthetics of a much larger game: Elden Ring.
Light and shadow in a hostile world
What is the game about? You play as the girl Ayasa, who travels through a largely destroyed world to find a being named Tas and its lost light.
The world consists of six countries named Faith, Hope, Love, Greed, Indifference, and Betrayal. Even in the trailer, it shows that the areas are dark. Individual elements like large, carnivorous plants or tentacle-like beings create surreal images. Everything in this world wants to kill Ayasa, and the developers do not shy away from absurd designs.
This positively reminds of Elden Ring and the developer FromSoftware, which recently made headlines. In terms of gameplay, however, the games could hardly be more different. While in Elden Ring you are forced to confront enemies, Ayasa prefers to flee from foes or avoid them.
Helpful in escaping is the play with light and shadow: Danger lurks in the dark, but you can also hide there well. With light, on the other hand, new paths become visible, or treasures can be found more easily.
In between await puzzles to be solved. Moreover, Ayasa’s world, similar to the between lands and the shadow lands from Elden Ring, is supposed to hold many secrets. Therefore, exploring should be worthwhile.
When is the game coming out? Currently, there is no exact date for the release yet. Ayasa is expected to be released in 2025 on Steam, as well as for current consoles, apparently PS5 and Xbox.
