A new action RPG on Steam and Epic Games takes you to ancient India, where you fight against an invasion of powerful demons – with reinforcements if you wish.
What game is it about? It is about The Age of Bhaarat, the first game from the Indian developer studio Tara Gaming. The developers aim to pack characters and monsters from Indian epics into a AAA game.
You can watch the first trailer for the game here:
“Black Myth: Wukong” in ancient India
What kind of game is it? The Age of Bhaarat is an action RPG set in a dark fantasy version of ancient India.
- You play as a powerful “Forest Warden,” who has access to mystical weapons and arcane powers.
- As such, it is your duty to defend your homeland from an invasion of demons – the so-called Rakshasas.
The story of the game comes according to Steam from Amish Tripathi, a bestselling author from India, who is primarily known for his Shiva trilogy and the Ram-Chandra series. The developers promise an “epic story of duty, betrayal, and ancient power” that you can change with your choices.
In terms of gameplay, The Age of Bhaarat is reminiscent of Black Myth: Wukong. The action RPG from China was released in 2024 and made a splash on Steam. Wukong was even in the running for Game of the Year, where it lost to the disappointment of many.
- Your Warden fights with a polearm (here it is a spear) against vile monsters and demons.
- The graphic style is very realistic, and the atmosphere is rather gloomy, although the world appears a bit more colorful than in Black Myth: Wukong.
Additionally, you have a grappling hook at your disposal. This is meant to help you not only cross chasms but also be useful in combat.
Is there already a release date? Not yet. The gameplay shown is still from a pre-alpha of the game, so the release is likely still a long way off. The Age of Bhaarat has so far been announced for PC on Steam and in the Epic Games Store.
The game is also expected to be released for consoles, but the developers have neither stated on their website nor in the trailer which platforms are specifically meant.
