In ARC Raiders, a player witnessed a scene that could be straight out of a horror movie – and he emerged as a survivor.
What happened to the player? A player reports on Reddit that he went into a raid armed with an Equalizer, one of the rare and valuable golden weapons, and joined a fight against one of the big and nasty ARCs (it is not quite clear whether it was Queen or Matriarch).
He realized that he was making himself a target for other players by walking around with such a weapon. And when the huge ARC fell, a sneaky Raider shot him in the back. The Reddit user went down. Then the horror movie commenced.
ARC Raiders turns into creature horror
How did ARC Raiders become a horror movie? “I had already accepted my fate,” writes the Reddit user, as he thought that certain death awaited his Raider. But when his opponent was about to strike the final blow and wanted to send him back to Speranza, four “Ticks” jumped into his face.
Ticks are spider-like ARCs that individually don’t cause much damage, but Raiders first have to shake them off with an animation. They are actually more annoying than a real threat.
However, with the last Tick, the attacker fell into the abyss behind him and died, while the creator of the Reddit post was revived by other friendly Raiders.
On Reddit, the situation is compared to a horror flick: “Well, that turned into a horror movie very quickly,” comments one user. He is referencing various classic creature horror films, especially those focused on spiders. Examples would be “Arachnophobia” or “ARAC Attack” (via Moviepilot).
Tip from the community: The Reddit user was quite lucky that the Ticks attacked at just the right moment, saving his life. Nevertheless, other players give him the advice in the comments on Reddit to never equip the Equalizer outside of a fight. He should ideally store it in his backpack until the battle, as other players can see it on his back when it is equipped as a primary or secondary weapon.
Sneaky actions, like those of the attacking player, have repercussions on matchmaking in ARC Raiders. The game recognizes whether you are more peaceful or PvP-oriented and adjusts your lobbies accordingly. If you shoot in ARC Raiders without warning, you can be sure that this will happen to you too.
