What is Thorium? Thorium is a green ore in Hytale. It is required to craft the third set of armor, weapons, and shield, as well as the fourth set of tools. Here is the item description:
While Ferans do not themselves make use of this metal, they keep a vigilant watch over its deposits in the sun-scorched deserts and arid badlands. Should their age-old enemies rise once more, these reserves would be the first they sought to harvest.
Finding Thorium in Hytale
Where can you find Thorium? Thorium can be found in the Howling Desert among other places. There, the ore can be mined both on and in the mountains. Specifically, you should search the brown-marked areas of the mountains on the map, as Thorium has not yet been found in the lighter regions.
In the desert, there are also dark holes in the ground where Thorium ore spawns like any other ore.

What can you craft with Thorium? Thorium is required to craft the third set of armor, weapons, and shield, as well as the fourth set of tools and the Tier 2 Workbench in Hytale. Before the tools and weapons can be crafted, the ore must be smelted into bars in the Furnace.
The following amounts of Thorium are needed for the respective items:
- Thorium Cuirass: 20 Thorium Bars
- Thorium Shield: 5 Thorium
- Thorium Pickaxe: 6 Thorium Bars
- Workbench Tier 2: 30 Thorium Bars
- Furnace Tier 2: 5 Thorium Bars
