An item from the beta of Battle for Azeroth has now appeared in the live version of World of Warcraft. The item initiates a quest and rewards you with a rare mount at the end.
Kua’fon’s Pterrordax found: According to wowhead, a player has found a Pterrordax for the first time in Battle for Azeroth by a bloodthirsty Pterrordax in Zuldazar. The item starts a week-long quest chain, at the end of which stands a rare mount.

A Month for a WoW Mount
The Pterrordax was almost guaranteed loot from Pterrordaxes during the beta of Battle for Azeroth. Towards the end, the drop rate became so low that players thought the egg was no longer available. Now it has reappeared.
A Rare Mount: If you find a Pterrordax egg, you can start a quest chain where you need to take care of the Pterrordax every day. You have to complete daily quests for your new companion.
The hatchling, Kua’fon, continues to grow as you take care of it. In the end, you will teach it to fly and be rewarded with Kua’fon’s harness.
The Quest Chain Duration: If you want to complete the quest chain, it takes at least 29 days (via wowhead). You must also have reached level 120. The quest is currently only available for Horde players. In addition to the daily quests, there are regular quests at certain intervals that you need for the final achievement:
Pterrordax Taming Made Easy
- Environment vs. Propensity
- Room to Grow
- Looking at the Sky
- Fast, but Not Finished
The Pterrordax egg provides you with the starting quest “A Child of Pa’ku”. You currently do not need the egg itself for that: The quest can be shared. Whether that is intended or a bug that will be removed is still unclear.

Find an Egg: You can currently find the eggs with Pterrordaxes in Zuldazar. Bloodthirsty Pterrordaxes reside in the central areas of Dazar’alor and Zanchul in Zuldazar, while Air Ripper Pterrordaxes are a bit east of there at Tal’Gurub.
Be prepared that it may take a while. The wowhead user who reported the find farmed the egg for 5 to 6 hours in a group.
