Robin Williams, a Legend by the Emperor’s Side
While my plan with this list is not to reopen old wounds, I do not want to conclude without mentioning Robin Williams. That he was a big nerd for most of his life became known at the latest when he named his daughter “Zelda”.
Williams was known for many roles with a wide range, including:
- Professor Philip Brainard in Flubber
- Mrs. Doubtfire in the same-name movie
- Alan Parrish in Jumanji (The movie actually should have only lasted a few minutes)
- Adrian Cronauer in Good Morning, Vietnam
- John Keating in The Dead Poets Society
- Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting, in which his performance even made the cameraman laugh
That Williams was a big fan of Warhammer, specifically Warhammer 40,000, he confirmed himself in an AMA on Reddit in 2013. At that time he said that while he owned several armies, he had never played himself.
His daughter Zelda posted pictures of the figures in 2018 and asked for help in identifying them (via Bell of Lost Souls). At least one Phantom Titan of the Aeldari and a Reaver Titan and two Warhound Titans of the Adeptus Titanicus can be seen.
Robin Williams suffered from Lewy body dementia, which can have various effects such as severe depression. He passed away in August 2014.
Other support services can be found on the homepage of the German Society for Suicide Prevention.
But to not leave you with too bittersweet a note, we want to conclude with something more beautiful than such a memory. Because Warhammer has not only prominent fans but also some heroes who definitely do not wear capes and do not stand in front of cameras: Grandma ran a comic store 20 years ago, gifts her grandson dozens of Warhammer figures, makes the community envious
