A streamer on Twitch wanted to introduce gaming to his father, who had no interest in his son’s hobby. First, he tried Dark Souls, but after finishing the game, it’s now on to Elden Ring.
How did the story begin? The gamer Babe1Babe2 is a relatively smaller streamer with over 40,000 subscribers on YouTube and 1,700 followers on Twitch. His content mostly revolves around famous Souls games like Elden Ring or Lies of P.
While gaming is a hobby for Babe1Babe2, it is not the same for his father. In a YouTube video, the son talked about an experiment. His father believes that games are a pure waste of time that takes over life – something his son wanted to change.
He convinced his 69-year-old dad to play one of the hardest Souls games as a complete gaming newbie: Dark Souls 1. His verdict is surprising, and fascinated by games, he is now playing his next Souls game.
From “Games are a waste of time” to “I get it now”
What has changed for the father? Despite initial difficulties with controller controls and finding a build, the father ultimately managed to defeat the final boss of Dark Souls. His attitude towards gaming has changed, and he expressed this in an interview with his son (Source: YouTube).
He always regarded video games as a waste of time, but games are something better now, according to the father. He now understands the gaming community and why they watch streamers and spend their time on this hobby.
One is part of something much greater. Games are things that fans can interact with. It’s not like television, where one just stands as a consumer and does nothing – one tries to improve, to learn, and to have fun.
He really enjoyed his time in Dark Souls, but it shouldn’t stop there. The duo has another project planned and is already working hard to implement it.
What is the duo doing now? Next up on the agenda is Elden Ring. Once again, the father has to struggle through the incredibly tough bosses and get better or, as Souls players jargon goes: Git Gud.
The good thing is that the father has since learned the basic techniques in Dark Souls – he just needs to keep up with the higher difficulty.
How long it will take him for Elden Ring is not quite clear, but he took 9 months for Dark Souls. To accomplish this, he definitely needs a strong build.
