Elden Ring: Nightreign will receive a new DLC at the beginning of December. Now there is a video about one of the new playable characters: the Scholar.
What kind of class is this? The gameplay trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign features a new nightwalker, the Scholar. He fights with a sword that he seems to carry as a walking stick and is armed with a book.
The Scholar uses said sword in close combat. At the same time, he seems to have magic according to the trailer. On the one hand, area effect attacks are shown that can target multiple enemies at the same time. In addition, the Scholar seems to be able to distribute buffs and heal. To do this, he sometimes uses a book – quite similar to the Scholar class from Final Fantasy XIV.

What are the players saying? Under the video on YouTube, hopeful comments are gathering, with some seeing the Scholar as a concrete counter for the boss Everdark Libra. This is noted by, for example, @youwy, @energel4373, and @pajeetsingh on YouTube and Instagram.
Everdark Libra takes the form of a goat and is stronger than its base version, and has already caused many players many nerves due to its penchant for madness and its almost uncontrollable speed.
Others are excited about the area attacks and the cool look of the new class. Some also say he would make a perfect combo with the Countess and Iron Eye.
What’s new with the DLC? The DLC “The Forsaken Hollows”, which allows the Scholar to be playable, will be released on December 4, 2025, and will bring the following new content in addition to him:
- Another nightwalker named The Undertaker
- A new “Shifted Earth”, a large cave beneath Limveld with cursed crystals and ancient ruins
- 2 new bosses
- A new form called Abominations
Currently, not much is known about the content of the DLC. What bosses will be brought in or what the Abominations are about will presumably be revealed in the coming days.
With the release of the DLC, many nightwalkers are likely to return to the world of Limveld, but new brave companions will certainly find their way there as well.
