The best classes for player versus player
Our information focuses on the Arena PvP in five-on-five. At this point, we leave out the two-on-two arena and possible larger player numbers.
The strongest builds in the meta
To be successful in PvP, you have two options. You can play a build that deals a lot of damage or one that can withstand a lot. However, currently, no specialization achieves the coveted S rank.
- The A-tier is led by Firebrand Guardian, Spellbreaker Warrior, and Scrapper.
- Also a good choice: Holosmith Engineer, Chronomancer, Guardian, Dragonhunter Guardian, Druid, and Vindicator Revenant.
The constant in PvP
Since the inception of PvP, thieves have been present in the meta. The reason for this is their good damage, incredible mobility with the shortbow, and the invisibility that is very strong in combat against other players.
Currently, you can play the thief in two ways:
- With the Deadeye specialization
- With the Spectre specialization from End of Dragons
- For roaming, we can also recommend a Daredevil build.
Which classes are too weak in PvP?
In the current meta, all classes can be played. However, the Engineer is somewhat weaker.
The best classes for world versus world
In world versus world, we need to distinguish between two play styles. There is roaming, where you seek direct duels, and zerging, where you go in groups.
Who are the best roamers?
If you want to roam alone through world versus world, particularly Thieves with Deadeye, Daredevil, or – with slight reservations – Specter specialization are recommended. You can also achieve good results as a Catalyst Elementalist, Renegade Revenant, Willbender Guardian, Harbinger Necromancer, or Scrapper.
Support is the most important in zerg
The group play in world versus world focuses entirely on group support. Builds like the support brawler, plague bringer, and break the ban are at the forefront. Therefore, specializations from Path of Fire appear in this enumeration. The reason for this is the design idea behind the builds:
- The currently strongest choice: The Necromancer provides Barrier for allies and large AoE fields for opponents.
- The Guardian as Firebrand provides healing with his mantras and tomes, which was already very strong in arena PvP.
- The Mesmer can also provide important support as a Chronomancer.
- Other strong alternatives at A-tier level: Scrapper, (Berserker) Warrior, Holosmith Engineer, and Renegade Revenant.
What is not welcome in zerg?
The Ranger has a generally difficult standing in the community due to some very blunt playstyles. In roaming, it is fine, but in zergs, it can only come as a Druid.
Also, the Thief is not as strong in zergs as in solo play. The agile fighter is currently the least popular class in a large group.
If you’re not interested in PvP and raids, you can still obtain legendary gear: Guild Wars 2 lets you craft legendary armor – completely without PvP or raids
