In the investor report, publisher Take-Two made some hints that sound suspiciously like a release of GTA 6 in 2024.
Where did the information come from? The GTA publisher Take-Two presented its quarterly investor report on May 17, and made some promising hints in it and in an accompanying press release:
- The development of GTA VI is “in full swing” – that alone wouldn’t be too significant if the report didn’t also state,
- that “multiple groundbreaking titles” are slated for release in fiscal year 2025.
Furthermore, Take-Two announced that the games “will set new standards for the industry” and should bring the company net bookings of 8 billion US dollars in the fiscal year.
In the current fiscal year, the publisher recorded net bookings of 5.2 billion $, according to PC Gamer, and the ongoing year is expected to raise this amount somewhat. The hinted at major releases are likely to bring Take-Two more than 2.5 billion $.
However, the company did not want to disclose whether the figures are based on upcoming game sales, older titles, or microtransactions.
2024 could be a great year
What exactly did Take-Two say? In the press release for the financial report, the publisher mentions a “challenging consumption environment” and an extension of development timelines for several “high-profile titles.” It also states:
We believe we will enter our next growth phase in fiscal year 2025, as we are planning several groundbreaking titles that we expect will set new quality and success standards and enable us to achieve more than 8 billion US dollars in net bookings […]

Which games could be released? There are some hints that one of the hinted releases could be GTA 6. Take-Two had already said beforehand that the game is supposed to set “creative benchmarks” for the entertainment industry, which sounds quite similar to the hints in the report.
Furthermore, even Microsoft seems to believe in a release in 2024. However, nowhere is it explicitly stated: “By the way, GTA 6 is definitely coming in 2024.” Moreover, gamers likely have a lot of experience with delayed releases by now. Still, the hints give hope.
Judas, the new game from BioShock creator Ken Levine, is also being discussed for next year, but it probably won’t be enough to generate the expected revenues on its own.
Is it now 2024 or 2025? Take-Two’s fiscal year 2025 begins in April 2024. This means that games announced for fiscal year 2025 are supposed to be released over the course of next year or at the latest by early 2025.
Fans would love to pre-order right now
What are the initial reactions like? In the GTA 6 subreddit, there are several threads where Take-Two’s hints are actively discussed. Fans speculate about a release directly in April, in the fall, or perhaps around Christmas.
Now that there is a vague time frame for the release, fans are wondering what might happen next: When will the official announcement follow? Is there perhaps going to be a trailer or at least a teaser this year?
- sony-boy thinks: “The weeks after the teaser/trailer will be so much fun. I had the best time analyzing and theorizing about GTA 5 back then.”
- mercedes_maybach can’t wait: “Survive two more years.”
- chemicalbonex wants to spend money now: “They could offer pre-orders right now, and I would buy it. Sight unseen. The game will be fantastic, and we all know it.”
Last year, a huge leak revealed a number of details about GTA 6 and led to plenty of concerns among fans about what the highly anticipated game would look like. Rockstar engaged in damage control and even involved the FBI.
