The marketing campaign for GTA 6 is already running, and if you feel like you are not experiencing much of it, you are not alone.
Where is the marketing? In an interview reported by indy100.com, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick announced weeks ago: “Rest assured: I believe you will be quite amazed at the creative ideas Rockstar will present to consumers in the coming months.”
The marketing for GTA 6 is already in progress. The publisher has published many images on its website coinciding with the start of pre-orders, and there was a camera ride over the world.
On social media, you can sometimes see the cover art also as a video reveal with a link to the pre-orders. Rockstar Games is advertising for GTA 6. However, at the same time, everything feels a bit dormant, especially compared to what Rockstar Games usually presents.
Here you can see one of the new videos of the marketing campaign:
Fans are feeling underwhelmed
What was expected? Rockstar Games is known for creativity. So when the publisher announces they want to do creative marketing for the game, fans expect something special.
One thinks of large Environmental Ads
, such as when a complete subway station was covered with characters, logos, and huge wall graphics for Arknights: Endfield. Something similar was also done in different ways for games like Honkai: Star Rail, Cyberpunk, or The Last of Us.
There are no limits to creativity here. Even on social media, entire short films, like in PayDay 2, could have been a creative way to promote the game.
How do fans react to the advertising? The lack of creativity is also noticeable among fans. They are eagerly awaiting Trailer 3 or even gameplay for the game. Both would likely excite the fans immediately. On the other hand, looking at the opinions on Reddit, it sounds like this:
- Ellugima: “I thought they would do something with the new GTA Online update – in-game advertising in TV shows, dialogues, etc. But aside from these hints in the paintings, there seems to be nothing else.”
- FitCelebration1131: “Honestly, I don’t feel the excitement anymore.”
- OakleyNoble: “I literally thought they would replace billboards to advertise for the pre-order of GTA VI… my god, it’s so boring. They have a game with a large player base that they could utilize, but they are just giving us trash. I’m so tired of the hype train, especially with this new update… it makes me feel like GTA VI could be a great game, but it will lose me faster than any other game I was hyped about.”

In the coming months, gameplay and maybe a third trailer will certainly be released. Until then, you can speculate on where GTA 7 will take place: GTA 6 fans discuss where part 7 should take place, only two locations are possible
