PC players of GTA 5 will soon receive a free update to the new version. This update will finally introduce features into the game that have only been available in GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Plus, there’s a new way to spend more money.
The update, which will be released in March 2025, brings features to PC that console players have previously enjoyed. These include new graphics options, faster loading times, and some handy features for GTA Online. Additionally, there will be the option to sign up for a paid membership.
You can spend money on: With the update, PC players will have the option to subscribe to a GTA+ membership, gaining various benefits in GTA Online. According to rockstargames.com, this includes:
- a monthly bonus of 500,000 GTA$
- free vehicles
- access to the Vinewood Club garage with space for up to 100 vehicles
- your own vehicle workshop
- gameplay bonuses, special vehicle customizations, and clothing options
- access to a selection of classic Rockstar Games titles
Currently, the subscription costs €7.99 per month on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (via Rockstar) – likely, the price for PC players will be similar.
What else does the update bring? Besides the membership, the free update for PC players also includes more features and improvements. There will be new vehicles and upgrades, along with wild animals that you can photograph for a challenge. Additionally, the PC version will receive a revamped main menu, making it easier to access GTA Online features.
With career progression, you will also be able to keep track of your entire criminal career on the PC. New players will benefit from a simplified user interface for a smoother entry – and on top of that, there will be a financial boost of 4,000,000 GTA$ for properties, vehicles, and other items.
Additionally, PC players will also receive technical improvements for GTA 5:
- Ray tracing features, such as ambient occlusion and global illumination
- Ray tracing for shadows and reflections
- Support for AMD FSR1 and FSR3 and NVIDIA DLSS 3
- Faster loading times with SSD and DirectStorage on supported devices
- DualSense controller support with adaptive triggers
- Enhanced audio with Dolby Atmos support
- Improved fidelity of voice, cutscenes, and music
What happens if you don’t use the update? The developers emphasize on the website that players whose hardware does not meet the minimum requirements can continue to play – but only the old version. The catch? Players with different versions cannot play together. To ensure support, the versions on PC will be treated separately. If you buy GTA 5 again, you can choose between the versions.
