Kazuha is the new playable character in Genshin Impact. We will tell you how to play the new Anemo character correctly.
Who is Kazuha? Kazuha is a lonely samurai and wanderer from Inazuma. He has fought many battles and endured a lot in his life. Nevertheless, he is very reserved and friendly.
After fighting, he likes to sleep on warm rocks in the midday sun and recite poems. He also enjoys wandering aimlessly through the lands, appearing far more innocuous due to his calm demeanor than he actually is.
On his travels, he met Beidou, the leader of the Crux Fleet, and has since been traveling with her. Few know that he is being searched for in his homeland for an unknown reason. Not much is known about his backstory, except that he once belonged to the Kaedehara clan before falling from prominence.
In combat, Kazuha wields a one-handed sword and his element is Anemo.

What can Kazuha do? With his standard attacks, Kazuha can perform up to five sword strikes, which happen quite quickly. His heavy strike consumes stamina and executes two quick forward attacks.
His elemental attack is called Chihayaburu and pulls enemies toward you before launching them away. True to his element, the attack deals Anemo damage. Chihayaburu can be used in the air and can be charged to increase range and damage.
If you use Chihayaburu in the air, you can start an attack directly from the jump, with any potential elemental damage then being converted into Anemo damage. Furthermore, enemies will be pulled back to you afterwards.
His ultimate ability is called Kazuha Slash and triggers a single strike that creates an Anemo field in the vicinity that inflicts damage over time to your enemies. The Anemo field of this ability can adopt another element once Kazuha or the field come into contact with it, causing additional damage.
While doing this, you should pay attention to the different priorities of the elements; for example, fire is preferred over the other elements, while the field cannot adopt a Geo element.
Kazuha – A great addition to your team
Which talents are worthwhile? When it comes to Kazuha’s talents, you should focus on his ultimate attack and his elemental skill Chihayaburu. If you want to play Kazuha completely focused on DPS, it may also be worthwhile to level up his normal attacks.
Your priority should still be on the elemental skills. Moreover, Kazuha is one of the few characters for whom it is worthwhile to ascend from level 80 to 90, as he will receive an additional 34% Anemo damage, and you definitely want to take that with you.
What benefits do constellations bring? In this list, we at MeinMMO have summarized for you what the various constellations bring:
- 1st Constellation: Your Chihayaburu ability is recharged when performing Kazuha Slash. You can execute a very effective E-Q-E combination
- 2nd Constellation: The field from your Kazuha Slash grants Kazuha and other playable characters 200 points of elemental mastery for the duration
- 4th Constellation: If you use Chihayaburu, you gain additional elemental energy. This helps recharge your ultimate ability faster and leads to an extremely strong E-Q-E-Q combination
- 6th Constellation: With the 6th constellation Mimiji Hunt, Kazuha can also be played as a main DPS. When using E and Q, you gain Anemo power for 5 seconds. Your normal attacks then deal 0.2% more damage for each point of elemental mastery. When optimally equipped, you can thus achieve more than 180% additional damage from the constellation.
Which weapons should I equip? Kazuha will probably not become your new main DPS character, but he is a perfect addition to your team and one of the best support and sub-DPS characters you can currently find in the game.
No matter if you want to play your Kazuha as support or sub-DPS – the new legendary sword “Pale Oath of Freedom” in its five-star version is the best choice. It increases your damage by 10% and grants your team a buff when you trigger elemental reactions.
Alternatively, you can also opt for the four-star sword “Lantern“. It increases your elemental damage and improves your overall damage by 12%. But be careful, the damage bonus expires for five seconds when you get hit.
Also, the four-star sword “Sacrificial Sword” is a good option. Here, you specialize in your elemental abilities. The Sacrificial Sword gives you a 40% chance that your elemental abilities have no cooldown. However, from constellation 4 onwards, this alternative loses relevance.
If you want to focus a bit more on damage, the Moss Green Rock Sword, also in its five-star version, is a good option. It increases your critical hit chance and provides a decent ATK bonus. If you have difficulty obtaining this sword, you can also use the four-star sword “Black Sword“. This also increases critical hit chance and boosts your damage. You can obtain it in the Battle Pass.
What is the best free-to-play alternative? For free-to-play players, the best option is the four-star sword Iron Sting. Its main attribute also focuses on elemental damage, and it grants you a good buff that increases all damage by 6% each time a player causes elemental damage.
Another option is the three-star “Twilight Sword“. It enhances your critical damage and provides a solid opener since you get increased critical hit chance against enemies with over 90% health points.
Generally, you should ensure that your main stats focus on elemental mastery, and your sub-stats focus on critical damage and critical hit chance.
All values mentioned in the text refer to the weapons at refinement level 1.
These artifacts make Kazuha really strong
Which artifact set is the best? The best possible set for Kazuha is the artifact set “Viridescent Venerer“, as it brings the following bonuses:
- 2-piece bonus: Increases Anemo damage by 15%
- 4-piece bonus: Increases Swirl damage by 60% and decreases elemental resistance against the element of the swirl by 40% for 10 seconds
If you had trouble finding the right values and still lack some elemental mastery, the best alternative would be a mix of the Viridescent Venerer and the “Wanderer’s Troupe” set. You should then utilize the 2-piece bonus from both sets.
- 2-piece bonus Viridescent Venerer: Increases Anemo damage by 15%
- 2-piece bonus Wanderer’s Troupe: Increases elemental mastery by 80 points
This way, you can compensate for the missing elemental points without losing too much damage. If you want to focus on Kazuha as a support character, the “Noblesse Oblige” set is recommended, as you can also enhance your other characters. However, this set should only be played as a full set. It offers the following advantages:
- 2-piece bonus: Increases damage dealt by special abilities by 20%
- 4-piece bonus: Increases the attack of all party members by 20% for 12 seconds after using special abilities
If you want to play Kazuha as a full damage dealer, you should combine the Viridescent Venerer set with the “Gladiator’s Finale” set. This way, you can optimize your physical attack damage.
- 2-piece Viridescent Venerer: Increases Anemo damage by 15%
- 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale: Increases ATK by 18%
Finally, it can be said that you should specialize your support Kazuha in elemental mastery, as this is your most important stat.
If you want to specialize Kazuha more towards sub-damage, you should have elemental mastery on at least one piece, but do not ignore Anemo damage, critical hit damage, and critical hit chance. When prioritizing the main stats, adhere to the following order:
Elemental Mastery ⇾ Critical Hit Chance ⇾ Critical Hit Damage ⇾ Energy Recharge ⇾ Attack.

Which characters can you play well with Kazuha? Due to his strong support characteristics and high elemental mastery, Kazuha can be played with an exceptionally wide range of characters. He will be able to support most of your main DPS characters and is a sensible addition to almost any team.
However, there are some characters that pair particularly well with Kazuha. We have compiled some suggestions for an effective team for you from MeinMMO:
Mono-Element Pyro (+Bonus Attack Buff +25%):
- Bennett, as he is one of the strongest characters in the game, capable of increasing attack and healing
- Xiangling, as she is free-to-play and fits well into the team thanks to her ultimate. Her many fire attacks optimize Kazuha’s ultimate attack
- Klee, as she deals massive damage, and you can pull enemies back into her bombs using Kazuha’s E
With the two Pyro characters, you will receive the “Fervent Flames” buff.
Water/Ice Build:
- Mona/Xingqui/Barbara, to have a strong water character on board
- Chongyun/Diona, to cause a freezing effect on enemies together with the water characters
- Bennett, because he can trigger the Melt combo effectively in this team, providing enormous extra damage
Alternatively, you can also take two Cryo characters and one water character to maintain the freezing effect continuously.
