On November 5th, the new event “Shadows of Antiquity” in Genshin Impact started. Since today, November 9th, you can complete it entirely. MeinMMO shows you tips, tricks, and solutions for the different phases of the event.
It is worth participating in “Shadows of Antiquity” as you can earn not only 300,000 Mora but also a whopping 420 Intertwined Fates. Particularly beneficial for Free2Play players to gather pulls for the banners.
Additionally, the event gives you some silver talent books, purple EXP cards, and large weapon ores.
How do you unlock the event? To participate in the event, you must have reached Adventure Rank 30 and completed the Archon Quest “A Flower Blooms in the Prison”. After that, you can go to the Adventurer’s Guild in Inazuma and talk to Kathryn, who has the quest “Journey to Tsurumi” ready for you.
The quest sends you to the southern part of Tsurumi Island in Inazuma, which you can easily reach via the teleporter. After that, you must fight the Ruin Colossus, which is located in the larger open area of the section.
You cannot defeat the colossus and must wait for Paimon’s hint. She tells you to return to Kathryn because the Ruin Colossus is not manageable.
Then you need to go to Hosseini in Ritou, who is directly across from the teleporter there. He gives you the important event item “Ayesha’s Chaos Detector”, which you can equip from your item bag. This completes your introduction to the event, and you can access it via the event tab.
Phase 1: “Investigation and Evaluation”
What do you need to do in Phase 1? Phase 1 sends you to 4 different areas located in the three regions of Teyvat. In each of these areas, there are 4 hideouts that you need to locate using the item “Ayesha’s Chaos Detector”.
The detectors always point in the direction you need to go to find the respective hideout. Once you have found all the hideouts, you can collect the area reward and travel to the next one.
If you have trouble finding the individual areas, you can open the 1st phase in the event tab and click the location icon to have them displayed.

Phase 2: “Data Collection”
What do you need to do in Phase 2? To trigger Phase 2, you need to return to Hosseini in Ritou. He assigns you the task to charge the “Pursina Light Nails” at the previously visited 4 areas.
For this, you need an electro character of your choice. You can best tackle the challenge with Fischl, Sara, or Lisa. But Raiden Shogun and Beidou can also assist you.
When you start the challenge, you will see the hit points at the top of the screen and how long the electro charge of the light nails will last. It will also show you on the left how much percentage of charge the light nails have received.
Enemies will appear in between, trying to attack and destroy the light nails. You need to defeat them to protect the devices.
You need to accomplish all of this within 2 minutes.
Tips and Tricks: With Fischl and Sara as archers, you can position yourself in the middle of the devices and attack them with charged shots.
If the Pursina Light Nails have just under half a charge and you shoot them once more with charged arrows, that should be enough to get them to 100% without further shots.
Each Pursina Light Nail has a designated number, it is best to shoot them in this order so you can be sure where the enemies will appear next.
If you have problems keeping the enemy troops under control, crowd-control characters can help:
- Venti
- Saccharose
- Kazuha
- Traveler (Anemo)
- and Jean
In addition, you can bring a Hydro character along with a Cryo element to freeze the enemies and gain time. Reliable Hydro characters could be:
- Xingqiu
- Childe
- Barbara
- Kokomi
Reliable Cryo characters:
- Chongyun
- Ganyu
- Kaeya
- Ayaka
Reward: 160 Intertwined Fates, 30,000 Mora and 6 silver talent books.
Extra: “Strange Sample Collection Point”
As a little extra, after Phase 2, you will receive additional tasks. You can, with the help of the chaos detector, place Pursina Light Nails at the Dragonspine in Mondstadt and at the Guyun Towers in Liyue.
The extra combines Phase 1 and 2 of the event and works the same way.
Reward: 60,000 Mora and 6x large weapon ore.
Phase 3: “Autonomous Mechanical Energy Source Introduction – Field Test”
What do you need to do in Phase 3? To complete Phase 3, you must first speak with Hosseini in Ritou again. He will assign you the task to place Pursina Light Nails at the location of the Ruin Colossus, south of Tsurumi.
After that, you can return to Hosseini, who will give you the assignment for the last phase of the event.
Final Phase: “Field Test”
What do you need to do in the final phase? In the final phase, you should finally defeat the Ruin Colossus. To do this, you need to charge the Pursina Light Nails while preventing the Colossus from destroying them. Once all three Light Nails are at 100%, the Ruin Colossus will be automatically destroyed, and the fight will be considered won.
The event gives you specific tasks for the fight against him that reward you.
Tips and tricks to complete all tasks: You need to fight the Colossus at least 2–3 times to collect all the rewards. As already noted in Phase 2, Hydro, Anemo, and Cryo characters can greatly assist you, especially for the two tricky tasks:
- “Complete the challenge with over 50% integrity for Pursina Light Nails” and
- “Complete the challenge without triggering the self-repair function of the Ruin Colossus special model”.
Make sure to activate all Pursina Light Nails approximately simultaneously, as the Ruin Colossus can only attack one of them at a time. While you protect one, the others can safely charge up their energy.
However, do not forget to hit them with an electrical attack a second time when they are at half charge, as one is not enough to bring them to 100% directly.
