Gabe Newell leads one of the world’s most well-known software companies, Valve. He is a prominent figure in the gaming industry and has now explained in a talk show which of the next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X he prefers.
Who is speaking? Gabe Newell is the head of Valve, the company behind the gaming platform Steam. Newell is also listed among the 400 richest Americans in the world according to Forbes. He is currently stuck in New Zealand due to the Corona crisis.
What he says: When asked in a talk show whether the Xbox Series X or the PS5 is better, he chooses the Xbox Series X without hesitation. When asked by the moderators why, he replies:
Because that’s the way it is. I’m not interested in this race [Xbox vs PS5]. Of course, we develop most of our products on PC, but between the two, I would definitely use an Xbox.

What Newell also discussed: When asked what the next important step in VR (Virtual Reality) would be, Newell explained that the next step would be “Brain Computer Interfaces”, meaning interfaces directly with the brain:
“Instead of going through eyes and senses [like with VR headsets], we are able to produce these things directly in your brain.”
These functions also require corresponding hardware. However, Newell believes that we are much closer to things like Sword Art Online than many think.
Xbox Series X and PS5 are expected to be highly powerful
And the next console generation has significantly more power than the current generation with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As Xbox chief Phil Spencer told MeinMMO in an interview, the Xbox Series X would become the most powerful next-gen console. The design is therefore only functional and would look like a tower PC.
