For Honor
Genre: Action | Developer: Ubisoft | Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S | Release: February 14, 2017
Not in the mood for shooting and gunpowder? In For Honor, you face your opponents eye to eye with sword, axe, and halberd.
The sword-fighting game from Ubisoft throws you into a fictional world where Vikings, knights, samurai, and more fight for the control of various locations. You typically face off in teams against other teams.
The various modes are essentially based on arena battles, only the objectives differ. Sometimes you have to eliminate all opponents, sometimes you have to capture and hold points. You have various characters with unique weapons and abilities at your disposal.
For Honor is continuously being developed and has been delivering new content like heroes or events for years.
A special focus is placed on executions. If you defeat your opponent in the right way, you can still extinguish their lights with a special animation for “humiliation.” This ranges from “simple” beheadings to brutal headbutts to actual sacrifices.
Dead by Daylight
Genre: Survival Horror | Developer: Behaviour Interactive | Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, Google Stadia | Release: June 14, 2016
The asymmetrical PvP game Dead by Daylight revolves around well-known killers from film, television, and literature. You take on the role of murderers inspired by Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, or characters from horror stories – or survivors who resist these killers.
In the rounds, 4 survivors are snatched by a killer and try to escape. They need to get generators running and escape through one of the few exits in the various maps.
The killers attempt to sacrifice the survivors to a dark entity they serve. They hunt the players with their special abilities and hang them on terrifying hooks until a spider-like creature impales them.
Particularly nasty are the executions called “Moris”. Each killer can send survivors to the beyond with a special animation. These executions range from bloody spectacles to grotesque performances.
GTA V Online
Genre: Action-Adventure | Developer: Rockstar North | Platform: PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S | Release: September 17, 2013
Have you always wanted to be a gangster but not get in trouble with the law? Well, in GTA it’s perfectly legal – after all, it’s just a video game. GTA V is the latest installment in the Grand Theft Auto series in which you play as a criminal.
You earn money and respect with various missions, constantly run into conflicts with the police, and explore a huge city full of possibilities.
GTA Online lets you experience your adventures not only alone but with many other players. Here you can participate in (illegal) races, buy and furnish your own house, and plan heists and raids or build empires.
Unofficial roleplay servers are particularly popular in GTA Online. In these, fans take on self-created roles and experience the lives of these characters live. GTA roleplay initially sparked a huge hype for the game on Twitch.
GTA Online is ideal for anyone who wants to experience the other side of the law without just mindlessly shooting and killing – and is also great for role-players thanks to some servers:
