Today marks the start of the new season of Last Epoch, which not only excites fans of the game but also those of the competitor Path of Exile 2.
What trouble has there been? The ARPG Last Epoch launches today, April 17 at 6:00 PM, into season 2, “Tombs of the Erased.” Originally, the season was supposed to start two weeks ago on April 2, but the developers of Path of Exile 2 chose a similar date for their new season “Dawn of the Hunt.”
The developers of Last Epoch accordingly moved their release date to this evening. After the season launch of Path of Exile 2 faced several issues and players have been frustrated with problems until today, many regular players of Path of Exile have now decided to check out the new season of the competitor.

Success for Last Epoch
How is it going for Last Epoch right now? On Steam, the ARPG is doing excellently. In Germany, the fully fledged game costing €33.99 is in 3rd place among the best-selling titles on Steam. The substantial supporter pack “Woven Legend” is also in 5th place, which for €58.99 includes only cosmetic items such as the popular Capybara pet. Path of Exile 2 has now slipped to 9th place.
Also within the community of Path of Exile 2, more and more players have recently decided to skip the season “Dawn of the Hunt” and instead try out Last Epoch. This opinion is also reflected in the comments under our articles.
Dagora writes regarding the difficult bosses in Path of Exile 2: “I have decided not to play PoE2 anymore. It’s honestly too much of a waste of my time. I’ll focus again on Last Epoch, D2, and D4. I don’t have to be 100% engaged all the time, which isn’t always feasible with family and work. It should be fun for me, and that’s not the case with PoE2.”
Gaminathor feels similarly under an article about the criticism of the desired playstyle: “I have also installed Last Epoch again. PoE2 unfortunately isn’t fun for me as it is, which is very disappointing as I was looking forward to all the classes, but it just doesn’t feel enjoyable.”
However, not all players have been convinced by Last Epoch. Aomori prefers a bit more challenge, commenting under the same article: “I personally really like PoE2 at the moment, it would just be cool if loot or crafting had a bit more influence. I hate when playing an ARPG and the bosses live for less than 10 seconds. Unless you have your equipment put together at some point.”
That Last Epoch has given up its release date in favor of Path of Exile 2 and is now benefiting from disappointed fans of the competitor is a fortunate turn of events for the ARPG. Since the last major update, player numbers had recently dropped to below 2,000 concurrent players (via SteamDB). That the sales are now soaring indicates that many new players are interested in the game and are acquiring the ARPG anew.
Thanks to the integrated offline mode, anyone who wishes can start playing right at 6:00 PM, even if the servers crash under the load.
