The fantasy MMO Final Fantasy XIV has secured the illustrator Yoshitaka Amano for the expansion “Heavensward”.
As reported by dualshockers.com, it has now been announced at G-Star 2014, a fair in Korea, that “Artwork” by Yoshitaka Amano will be used for the expansion “Heavensward” in Final Fantasy XIV. Amano has always been closely associated with the Final Fantasy franchise and has had a significant influence on it over the years. He was involved in the first Final Fantasy 27 years ago, a word that somehow becomes bare without a Roman numeral before it. In FF XIV, his brushstroke has been missing, but that will soon change.
He is set not only to design the cover of the expansion but also to contribute something in-game that will then play a prominent role in the story.
Illustrators are often responsible for illustrating comic strips, picture books, or graphic novels in art, and in video games and industry, they often take on the design of PR materials or sales boxes. Amano was also responsible for character and logo design in the early Final Fantasy titles.
