Bethesda presented the roadmap for Fallout 76 for the next few months. Not only will pets come to the game to accompany you in the wasteland, but there will also be a return to Fallout 3.
In December 2026, the World Pets
-update will come to the game, bringing you animal companions that you can take with you on your journeys into the wasteland.
These include dogs, cats, mutated pigs, and deathclaws. You can customize them with armor, and there will also be different breeds for each type of animal. In keeping with Fallout’s history, there will be a free German shepherd for all players. How to unlock other breeds and what their costs will be is still unclear.
You will level up these pets in Fallout 76 by giving them commands through the existing C.A.M.P. menu for pets. Each type of animal will be leveled up and not each individual breed. So if you level up the German shepherd, the level of every other dog will also increase. The cap will initially be set at 200 and will offer rewards at various milestones.
When fishing, the cat will be a useful companion:

The animals help you with melee attacks, but the damage is identical. Your cat is as strong as your deathclaw. Choosing the animal gives you passive bonuses:
- Dogs can find Stimpaks and extra legendaries in bounty hunts
- Cats find improved bait and extra fish snacks
- The pigs find toxic sludge and highly radioactive liquid
- Deathclaws find black titanium and extra legendaries in incursions
You can customize your pet based on what you want to farm. If your pets die, you can simply revive them, and some enemies in the wasteland also seem to have pets. However, players cannot make their animals fight each other.
Unfortunately, they also cannot participate in raids or stroll with you into a bunker.
Along with the Worlds Pet
update, new contents for bounty hunts will also be introduced for the Skyline Valley area.
Fallout 76 has a lot to offer until summer 2027
What else is coming to the game? After the animals, you should get a new content type with the hideouts in spring 2027. Hideouts are essentially dungeons where you can face off against a hideout with up to 3 players.
But first, you need to obtain a clue that you can find in the open world through various activities.
The hideouts are supposed to have exclusive rewards and offer various difficulty levels, types of enemies, and challenges. If you want it to be even harder, the Drifter awaits you. He is supposed to be a kind of AI opponent who can randomly appear in a hideout to take you down – he is said to resemble the difficulty of a raid boss and describes an enhanced version of the Butcher from Diablo 4.
Here you can see the roadmap at a glance:

Fans of the series can expect a nostalgic trip in summer 2027. Then the map will be expanded with the update Raven Rock
. You will explore part of the map from Fallout 3, but a few hundred years before the events of the actual game – it is basically a prequel.
The content will focus on the Enclave and show you familiar locations in a new light.
