The extraction shooter Escape from Tarkov has become even harder with its latest wipe, and although its fans love the tough survival, this wipe is a bit too harsh for them.
What kind of wipe is this? This is the hardcore wipe that took place on July 9th (source: escapefromtarkov.com).
While normal wipes erase all earned items from the soldiers’ stash, this wipe is different. Various changes have been made to make the game even tougher than it already is – maps have been removed, trading with other players takes ages now, and aside from daily and weekly tasks, there is nothing to do.
One might think that many players would appreciate the increase in difficulty, but that is not the case. A large part of the community is angry, stating that the shooter has become almost unplayable due to the changes.
If you’re looking for an alternative to Escape from Tarkov, this might be an option:
“70% of the game is gone”
What do fans say about the wipe? They are not satisfied. The release of a new wipe always represents the best part of Escape from Tarkov: every player has to earn their gear again and everything feels fresh. This time, however, the extraction shooter feels different.
The hardcore wipe has changed or even removed various aspects of the game, with Reddit user SakeMadaMada claiming that 70% of the game is gone. The following can be heard on Reddit:
- “I tried playing Reserve. Here was the experience: The queue for Customs was 10 minutes, then a 5-minute run to transit, followed by a 22-minute queue for Reserve – just to exchange headshots with another player two minutes later,” reports the gamer. “And we have no tasks, so the game is basically unplayable, haha, pure brainless grinding.” – SakeMadaMada
- “I was excited that the transit system had a purpose, but then they removed the quests and now it has no purpose again.” – fantafuzz
- “A terribly funny idea for the last wipe before 1.0. I tried to persuade a few friends to play, but no one wants to play this crap.” – monoloco2b
- “I did a raid, killed a player, his duo killed me, I got bored. This is just not it. This is not hardcore, this is boring.” – devils__avacado
Have the developers commented on the accusations? Not after the accusations, but at least before the release, Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio, published a post on X. In this, he emphasizes again that the team will closely monitor the community’s feedback.
So it is quite possible that they have also noticed the poor mood on social media and may speak up soon – time will tell. More about Escape from Tarkov can be found here: “1.0 Release? Who are you?” Escape from Tarkov surprises fans with launch date, reveals plans for the future
