The developers of Enshrouded have introduced the first part of their major new update. It’s about the new combat system of the survival game.
What kind of update is this? Enshrouded is progressing rapidly towards its full version. It is scheduled for release in autumn 2026 and needs some updates that will change fundamental aspects.
For Update 8, Forging the Path, the developers have addressed the combat system, which will change significantly by release.

New Combat System and Better Enemies
What has changed? In their video about the update of the combat system, the developers introduced several different points. Firstly, there is a new attack, the heavy attack. This deals more damage to enemies and also costs them stamina.
Also new are the weapon skills. These special maneuvers belong to each weapon type and can be triggered when the hit bar is fully loaded. So, those who deal a lot of damage can perform even more powerful attacks.
With two-handed weapons, the developers are separating the greatswords from the axes and hammers. The latter will now focus on diagonal attacks, while the greatswords will be swung from the side. Also new is the I-frame, which is the invincibility phase during the dodge roll. It allows for better evasion and mobility in fights.
How about the enemies? Not only players are supposed to benefit from the new combat system, but also the enemies. The developers have worked on the aggro system to make the target selection of the enemies more logical.
This is also supposed to lay the groundwork for an improved stealth system, which will be further expanded in the future. Enemies will now also try to dodge projectiles and will stick less to bushes. Overall, the enemies in the game will also be buffed.
What else have the developers announced? The developers of Enshrouded have announced further improvements for their game in Update 8. For instance, you will no longer fall off edges when moving through attacks, and enemies will teleport less to players when attacking.
For a later update, a focus on magic has also been announced, with crowd control and area damage as new spells for the mage being developed. However, this will not be part of Update 8 but will be on the agenda for the full release or afterwards.
Enshrouded is regarded by many fans of the survival genre as a diamond that gets better with each version. The fact that they are now refining the combat system and thus laying the groundwork for the full release in autumn 2026 is only positive for the future of the title.
