Soulslike has almost become synonymous with challenging bosses and brutally difficult games in the gaming scene. Elden Ring is no exception. However, this doesn’t stop players from continually challenging themselves with self-imposed challenges.
What was the challenge? “Koori Soda,” a streamer from Japan, wanted to find out how much damage one can inflict in Elden Ring at level 1 with a single hit. “Level 1” runs are a genre of challenges that players have come up with for various Soulslikes.
Maximum damage with critical hit
Here’s how Koori Soda proceeded: The fire giant was chosen as the first opponent, as it can take quite a bit of damage with its high HP. Koori Soda opted for a Blood Build with the Ash of War Seppuku. To increase damage, the player aimed for the injured leg of the fire giant. The result: an impressive 32,838 damage.
However, that wasn’t enough for Koori Soda. Since bleed damage is proportional to the health of the opponents, it can never be higher than their maximum HP – so another build was needed.
Next, Koori Soda targeted undead enemies to inflict massive holy damage. The death rite bird had to suffer and took 92,325 damage from a single holy water pot – more than enough to take down the boss with one hit. But not enough for Koori Soda.
The third tactic relied heavily on critical hits. This time, one of the flame knights was targeted. Koori Soda took advantage of the secret weakness of these nasty foes: downward attacks. To maximize damage, Koori Soda used a series of buffs, including:
- The incantation “Shabriri’s Woe” for +25% damage
- The incantation “Golden Oath” for an additional +15% damage
- The dagger “Misericordia” for maximum crit damage
This way, Koori Soda managed to inflict 455,866 damage with a single critical hit – all at level 1.
For other players, finishing Elden Ring is already a challenge. Twitch streamer Kai Cenat took over 165 hours to complete a playthrough and died more than 1,700 times during that time: Twitch streamer Kai Cenat finishes Elden Ring like many before him – but makes it the gaming event of the year
