In Elden Ring, there are many weapons and talents that can make your playstyle more powerful, but none is as powerful as the Power Stance. Here, you will learn how to use this mechanic and why it is so strong.
How do I activate Power Stance? The mechanic is activated as soon as you are wielding two weapons of the same type. Make sure you have the necessary attributes for the weapons, otherwise, Power Stance will not work.
Now that you have both weapons in hand, press the following button while attacking:
- PC: right mouse button
- PS4 and PS5: L1
- Xbox: LB
What is Power Stance? In Elden Ring, there is a mechanic that players know from Dark Souls 2, and that is Power Stance. With Power Stance, you can wield two weapons of the same type and swing them harmoniously together.
For example, if you use two daggers, one in each hand, you unlock new attacks that are not only faster but also more effective. Especially Blood Builds benefit from Power Stance, as you can trigger the status effect faster this way.
Power Stance is powerful, but can the mechanic compete with builds that wield only one weapon? We will answer this question for you.
Power Stance or one weapon in two hands?
Which is more powerful? It depends on how your build is configured. There are builds that specialize in status effects. Cold, poison, scarlet rot, or bleed effects create a condition in opponents that must be triggered over multiple attacks.
In such a build, it is vital to land many hits to trigger the effect quickly. In Power Stance, this is easy, especially if you have the right weapons equipped.
Using two daggers or dual blades ensures that your opponents take many hits quickly with their jumping attacks or combos. In such builds, Power Stance is the most powerful.
However, if you want to use a build with a shield, Power Stance can be hindering. You cannot block and must rely on your dodging skills. In this case, it would be beneficial to wield the weapon in two hands to maximize your damage.
Can I use unique talents in Power Stance? Yes, you can, but you need to pay attention to which weapon you want to use the unique talent from. If you are carrying two greatswords and one of them is the Blasphemous Blade, you can only use the talent if the Blasphemous Blade is in your right hand.
To use these talents in Power Stance, you can activate them as usual on PS4 & PS5 with L2, on Xbox with LT, and on PC with Shift and right mouse button.
Those were all the important details regarding Power Stance. What do you think of the mechanic? Do you use it in the Lands Between, or do you prefer to use a shield to protect yourself in battle?
