Upgrading your weapons is an important part of Elden Ring. For that, you also need the appropriate smithing stones. With bell bearings, you can buy these without limits. MyMMO shows you their locations.
What are bell bearings? These are items that you can hand over to the NPC merchant “Twin Maiden Husk” at the Roundtable Hold. In exchange, their offer expands to new items depending on which bell bearing you hand over.
Especially important are the bell bearings of the smithing stone miner and the dark smithing stone miner. Because these bring the important smithing stones and dark smithing stones with which you can upgrade your weapons.
Why is this so important? Without the bell bearings, you rely on items in the game world and the random drop chance from certain enemies to find smithing stones.
This restricts you significantly. With the bell bearings, all levels are available for purchase; you just need to collect runes. Since Patch 1.05, bell bearings that have been found once are also carried over to New Game Plus.

Locations for the bell bearing of the smithing stone miner
This is how the upgrade with smithing stones works: Smithing stones are for your “normal” weapons, meaning all that are not legendary or originated from boss echoes. In total, you can upgrade these weapons up to +25.

For smithing stones 1 & 2 – Bell Bearing of the Smithing Stone Miner 1
Here you can find them:
- The bell bearing is located in the northern lakes region of Liurnia, northeast of the Raya Lucaria academy.
- There you will find the Seliana crystal tunnel. Defeat the boss and you will receive the bell bearing.
For smithing stones 3 & 4 – Bell Bearing of the Smithing Stone Miner 2
Here you can find them:
- The bell bearing pearl is located in the sealed tunnel leading to the Holy Tower of West Altus. It is hidden in a chest behind some wooden crates and other debris.
- The hiding place is not far from the main entrance; go through the entrance tunnel and keep to the right wall.
For smithing stones 5 & 6 – Bell Bearing of the Smithing Stone Miner 3
Here you can find them:
- This bell bearing is located on the mountaintop of the giants, hidden in the ruins of Zamor. From the site of grace, you need to head west.
- In a larger area of the ruins, there is a staircase leading to an underground area with a treasure chest. You will find it there.

Here you can find them:
- The last bell bearing of the smithing stone miner is hidden in the Fallen Farum Azula.
- It is not far from the grace “Dragon Temple Altar” as a reward for the boss fight against the Godskin Duo.
