In Elden Ring, fans recently found clues that the highly anticipated DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree” could be released soon, perhaps on the anniversary, on February 25, 2024. However, the parent company of FromSoftware, Kadokawa, is now pouring cold water on the blazing flames of expectations.
What has given fans hope?
- A few days ago, on February 8, fans discovered that the DLC for Elden Ring was updated in the Steam database.
- This sparked hope in the reddit community of Elden Ring. Especially since the second anniversary of Elden Ring is approaching. Some had even hoped for a release of the DLC in 2023.
- At the release on February 25, 2022, Elden Ring took the gaming world by storm, hence the hope that it could be time for the DLC to finally be released on February 25, 2024. The DLC was already announced in February 2023.
We are working hard on the development of the DLC
– but no release date
What do the developers say? In a financial report from Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware, it was noted in the FAQ section on February 8, 2024 (via eir-parts.net):
- Question: “What is the development status of the Elden Ring DLC and when will it be released?
- Answer:
We are currently working hard on the development of the DLC for Elden Ring, but we have not announced a release date at this time.
As PC Gamer concludes, such a statement to investors does not sound like “The DLC is coming out right now,” but rather “The DLC will be released in the next financial year,” which begins for Kadokawa in April 2024.
PC Gamer quotes the producer, who said a few months ago that work on the DLC is progressing well, but it is still ongoing. It will feature new battles and characters.
