The DLC of Elden Ring will offer many new bosses, NPCs, weapons, and locations for players to explore, but what does it mean for fans who already have a powerful character? The genius behind Dark Souls has an answer to this question.
Will the DLC of Elden Ring not be too easy? Definitely not. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the genius behind Dark Souls and Elden Ring, has ensured that regardless of your leveled character, you will face the same difficulty as a newcomer.
The developers have implemented a new mechanic in Elden Ring that many should recognize from Sekiro, another title by FromSoftware. In this mechanic, it doesn’t matter how high your character is leveled or which powerful weapon you are carrying. What counts is solely the victory over the bosses. We will show you how the system works.
Sekiro’s system is meant to instill fear in you
What kind of system is this? In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, an action RPG by FromSoftware, there is, in this sense, no level system as players know it from Dark Souls or Elden Ring. You cannot create an overwhelmingly powerful character by accumulating many souls or runes, level up its weapons, and then annihilate every boss in two hits.
You need to study the bosses and then defeat them through tactical combat; after a successful boss victory, regardless of your level, you will be able to increase your attack power to fight stronger bosses.
This system is also intended to be implemented in the DLC of Elden Ring, so that you do not progress too quickly and are still challenged. However, this system is only applicable in the DLC of Elden Ring. In the base game, the rune and level system, as it was known at release, applies.
Bosses are also meant to be difficult: Another point that will affect you is the overall difficulty of the bosses. They are meant to be challenging and demanding – moreover, you will not be able to challenge every boss immediately and emerge victorious. It is worthwhile to explore the surrounding world when you are stuck on the same boss, in order to defeat weaker bosses for increased attack power.
