The sword “Bloodstreams” is among the best katanas in the game. Those who build a refined Dex/Arcane build can deal massive damage with Bloodstreams, as long as the enemies are flesh and blood.
Also, in our current weapon tier list for Elden Ring, the katana has a solid ranking, and anyone who hasn’t tried the sword should definitely do so.

But if you take a wrong turn, you can completely miss the katana. Only late in New Game+ will it be available to you again. Here’s how to find it in time and avoid this issue.
Elden Ring: Bloodstreams – Location on the Map
Where can I find the weapon? You will find the katana Bloodstreams only in the late game, in the region of the Mountaintops of the Giants. You can only reach this region after fighting through the capital Leyndell.
You will find the katana in the Church of Rest. There, you will be attacked by the NPC invader Okina, who uses this powerful blade. If you kill him, you will receive both Bloodstreams and a mask that complements the sword very well.
Although the Church of Rest is not far from the lift that takes you to the mountains on the map, you will have to walk a long way to get to the katana’s location.
- First, follow the guidance of grace to the northeast to a frozen lake.
- At the lake, walk south until you reach the First Church of Marika.
- From there, walk west to the Guardian’s Garrison.
- Further south, walk across an oversized chain to the relevant part of the region.
- Here, continue riding southwest, where you will find the Church of Rest.
It’s important that you do not wander further east and possibly miss the church. Because if you follow the story there, you will ensure that you cannot obtain the katana Bloodstreams in this playthrough.
You can miss Bloodstreams – Here’s how to get it safely
So you can miss Bloodstreams: The Forge of Giants is located a bit east of the Church of Rest. In front of it, the Fire Giant awaits you as a boss. If you defeat the Fire Giant and continue the story at the Forge of Giants, all invasions like that of Okina will be disabled for the rest of the story.
This means that after defeating the Fire Giant, you can completely miss the katana until you come back to the Mountaintops of the Giants in New Game+ or with a new character.
Very sneaky: The chain bridge leading to the Fire Giant is practically right next to the katana’s location. So if you want to use the katana, you should ensure that you defeat Okina before the Fire Giant. This way, you can grab the sword before it’s too late.
