The release of EA Sports FC 27 is approaching. Now there is a first look at the gameplay. What is new?
This year, a new installment of the FC series is being released. And as always, the question arises: What changes with the release of EA Sports FC 27?
Now there are initial answers in the gameplay area. According to Gilliard Lopes, the Principal Gameplay Designer of the game, some changes are on the agenda – based on player feedback.
The first focus is on manual defending, smarter attacking tactics, and innovations in free kicks and corners. The deep dive looks at these elements:
What is new in the gameplay of EA Sports FC 27?
The AI defense: Based on the feedback that manual defending should be rewarded more, some changes have been made. Players will be more agile and effective when you control them. This way, you can get into spaces or win duels that the AI could not. Overall, the AI will defend less aggressively – but it won’t leave you completely open either.
Corners: Corners are now divided into two phases. You start with the cross, which is charged, and then you have a few seconds to position your players as you want them. This is meant to reduce randomness.
In attack: In the offense, your professionals should act smarter regarding their running paths. They now run in curves around the defense when you command them. This allows you to attack more creatively offensively.
- Good dribblers can still keep the ball even when stumbling.
- One-twos will flow more smoothly and give you faster attacking opportunities. You can dizzy your opponent if you are quick.
- In FC 27, different shot types will be more effective in various situations, so you won’t have an “OP shot” in that sense.
- PlayStyles will be better balanced.
- Crosses may become more effective as heading accuracy improves and defenses have more problems defending against crosses.
Even before the gameplay, EA Sports FC 27 introduced a new approach that will be included in the game: The Grounds. Our editor Dariusz has already looked into the mode a bit.
