Actually, MeinMMO editor Jasmin wanted to play Pragmata. But due to an injury to her arm, she can currently only use one hand actively for gaming. A game on Steam has now saved her gaming break.
Anyone who has ever had an arm injury knows that it can take a while to heal. My pain became so severe at times that I had to rest my injured arm and could only use the other one actively.
This got in the way of my gaming plans. I had actually intended to play Pragmata on the PS5. But here, in addition to shooting, the other hand is needed for Diana’s hacking abilities, which unfortunately was not possible for me.
Frustrated, I sat on the couch and thought about what I could play instead. I had had enough of visual novels for the moment, as I had played them often in the weeks before. Together with my friends, we had the idea to test a game on Steam, which turned out to be my savior in the gaming routine.
Game on Steam can be played perfectly with one hand
The game on Steam is For The King II. Normally, I would never have looked at the title more closely. But thanks to my two friends, I was prompted to give it a chance.
In the game, you try to stop the tyrannical king together with up to four players. Gameplay-wise, each player takes turns. You plan together where to go next on the map and which quests to tackle. Even in battle, you occasionally coordinate, depending on how dire the situation is.
This worked to my advantage due to my arm injury. With my healthy hand, I could occasionally click with the mouse on a field to move, think with the other players, click again briefly, and then relax again.
Action-packed gameplay would not have been possible due to the injury. The turn-based principle works to my advantage here, as there are downtime periods. Additionally, I have to click less here than in other role-playing games like Baldur’s Gate 3, where at least you have to look around and move actively on the map with the mouse. In For The King II, not every player plays simultaneously; instead, it alternates.
Still, there is no empty phase where you sit bored in front of the screen. The game manages to keep my attention focused on the title the entire time.
Even though the graphics do not reach the level of triple-A titles, I had a lot of fun. All classes play differently, and when you rarely find loot, you are even more excited to put your newly acquired combat skills to the test.
Additionally, the game has crossplay. I was able to start For The King II beautifully on Steam while my colleagues were comfortably settled on the sofa in front of the PS5. This way, we could also compensate for some weaknesses of the game.
On the PS5, it is not always possible to read all bonuses and texts, which was quite easy for me on the PC. However, I had problems finding certain menu sub-items, which is easier on the PlayStation due to the fewer buttons available.
Moreover, it is essential to send four characters into the game. If you have fewer players, one of you must control two or more characters. Because with three players, it was impossible for us to complete even the first map. However, with four characters, we practically plowed through.
My arm is on the way to recovery, but the fun in For The King II remains. My friends and I want to play more maps in the future and try out the freshly released update and DLC.
In that sense, I can be thankful for my arm injury for leading me to such a great title. If you want to try the game yourself, you should hurry. The title is available with a 66% discount until May 18, 2026.
It will probably take a few more days or weeks until my arm is well enough for me to play Pragmata.
