The debate about a strong aim assist for controllers in Call of Duty: Warzone continues. Now the well-known YouTube streamer Guy “DrDisRespect” Beahm has also commented on it, in his usual quirky style. He made an ironic video about how “easy” Warzone is with the controller.
What is it about? For several months now, 3 major topics have been stirring the Call of Duty: Warzone community:
- the nasty cheaters
- the aim assist for controllers
- missing field of view options on consoles
While everyone agrees that the cheaters need to be removed from the game, the discussion is quite different when it comes to aim assist and field of view. Console players and PC gamers are at odds over what is unfair – the small field of view or the lack of aim assist.
In a video on YouTube, the YouTube streamer “DrDisRespect” also took a stand – in his own unique way. Under the title “The Great Aim Assist War Debate Has Gone Out of Control”, the streaming character demonstrated that one can even “close their eyes” and still hit enemies in close combat.
Basically, the Doc is just making fun of how seriously some players take the whole issue.
DrDisRespect makes fun of the debate
What kind of video is this? Essentially, it’s just a regular compilation of a stream from DrDisRespect. The Doc meets up with one of his best YouTube buddies, TimTheTatman, and the two rock a few rounds of Warzone. However, there’s a little challenge – both are playing with the controller. Here’s the video we’ve embedded for you:
What do Tim and the Doc think about aim assist? In the beginning, the Doc apparently makes it clear how easy it is to play Warzone with the controller. He goes further and claims that you can even close your eyes in close combat. He says about aim assist: ‘Even if I don’t want to aim at the guy, I can’t break the magnetism in close combat.’
But the Doc doesn’t mean it seriously. In fact, he wants to show how “normal” the gameplay looks even with the controller.
As ZLaner joins the game during the stream, a companion of the Doc, it becomes clear what this is really about:
- ZLaner: ‘Why are you playing with a controller today? Are you trying to prove something or what?’
- TimTheTatman: ‘I defend players on the controller.’
- ZLaner: ‘And the Doc is trying to make some sort of joke?’
- TimTheTatman: ‘Yep.’
- ZLaner: ‘He’s trying to show that aim assist is the easiest thing ever?’
- TimTheTatman: ‘Yep.’
So while Tim actually wants to support controller players, the Doc is just making fun of the debate and pokes fun at controllers. For him, mouse and keyboard are apparently still the superior input device. By the way, at the end of the video, there’s an ad for Doc’s products – in the foreground: mouse & keyboard.
Why is DrDisRespect making such a video? Currently, the discussion about aim assist is heating up again, and the Doc was right in the middle of it. It all started with a tweet a week ago: ‘Without your aim assist, you’re nothing!’ (via Twitter). This was picked up by the big Twitch streamer “Myth”, who became famous through Fortnite and has over 7 million followers on Twitch (via twitchtracker.com).
Myth said: ‘I would never put a controller player in my top 10 best FPS players’ (via Twitter) and referenced the Doc’s tweet. However, reactions promptly followed, and current and former CoD professionals spoke up who have been playing only with controllers for years:
Ian ” Crimsix” Porter was the most outspoken and left Myth the nice response: ‘With all due respect: Suck my ***!’
Myth later apologized for his comment and said that he wasn’t in a position to make a serious evaluation.
The aim assist heats things up in Warzone, but the Doc isn’t fazed as usual. He jokes about it and uses the momentum of the discussion for his video title. But the discussion is heated and will likely accompany us for some time.
