Deadpool 3 is expected to hit theaters worldwide in 2024. Alongside Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman will also appear in the film. He will be seen in the role of Wolverine. As director Shawn Levy states, the team has put a lot of effort into one detail about Wolverine.
What detail is that? Levy explains in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Wolverine’s costume will play a very special role. He explains that it took two decades for Wolverine to be seen in a film alongside Deadpool.
Furthermore, he does not know if this will be the last chance to see Wolverine in a film.
Therefore, the team wanted to make a special effort to depict the iconic yellow and blue outfit as accurately as possible on screen. Wolverine wore the costume that will now be seen in the film in the comics and the 1990s animated series.
In initial leaked images, the outfit that Wolverine will wear in Deadpool 3 has already been seen. Except for the blue underwear that Wolverine usually wears, the team has apparently succeeded perfectly with the outfit.
You can view the leaked image for example on the Twitter or X account of DiscussingFilm:
How did the team ensure the accurate outfit? Levy explains that “multiple, multiple, multiple fittings” were needed to guarantee the perfect outfit. He says that this perfection was only possible through the Marvel team:
It also helps that I’m making the film in the MCU, so I have access to an army of the nerdiest nerds there are for a Marvel project.
He also said that Reynolds wanted the film to feel grounded and not like a mishmash. Apparently, Reynolds is taking a more grounded approach to the film this time, as for Deadpool 2 he wanted to push through a crazy plot, which involved a red chair.
Therefore, many scenes were shot in the same locations. Only then could the photo of Wolverine actor Jackman be taken and made public. But Levy is pleased that the reaction to the outfit was “happily positive”.
Previously, Wolverine was only seen in a deleted scene from The Wolverine (2013) in a comic costume. In the scene, Wolverine received a light brown costume from Mariko Yashida as a farewell gift.
In X-Men: Days of Future Past, there were several allusions to the comic version in the battle suit, but only in a weak form. In Deadpool 3, it will probably be the first time that Wolverine’s costume adheres so closely to the comic template.
MeinMMO author Niko Hernes will probably hope that Deadpool 3 will have the same detail as Thor: Love and Thunder: Of all things, Thor: Love and Thunder has what I’m missing in Marvel movies
