A survival city-building game on Steam constantly presents you with serious decisions. Now, a utopia might await you at the end as a reward.
Which game is it? We’re talking about Frostpunk 2, a survival city-building game by developer 11 bit Studios, which was released on September 20, 2024, on Steam. On December 8, about 15 months after release, “Fractured Utopias” – the first DLC for the game – will follow.
Actually, the world of Frostpunk 2 is as far from a utopian paradise as one can imagine. An eternal snowstorm envelops the entire world, and you must ensure that as the leader of a group of survivors, they do not tear each other apart in the cold.
The developers themselves describe Frostpunk 2 as a “societal survival game.” For survival, good planning in city building is not only important but also the establishment of a functioning society.

Utopia after the apocalypse?
What’s included in the new DLC? Fractured Utopias expands the game with a new utopia mode. In this mode, you can pursue the dream of a perfect society. But this too will come at a price, as not every resident wants to be a part of it.
The population of your city is made up of different factions, each with their own goals and ideals. While the Pilgrims, for example, despise technology, the Technocrats are completely convinced by it. Sooner or later, this leads to tensions.
Each faction in the game envisions paradise on earth differently. Therefore, the DLC provides 8 unique faction utopias. Each comes with a faction idea tree that you unlock node by node. Once you reach the end, you achieve utopia – you won’t have to worry about tensions between individual factions anymore.
How much does the DLC cost? Frostpunk 2: Fractured Utopias costs €12.99 on Steam. The deluxe edition of the game already includes the expansion (and two additional planned DLCs).
