The beta test for World of Warcraft Midnight is live. We tell you how you can join and what to expect.
The development of the next expansion of World of Warcraft is progressing rapidly, and you can now participate actively. The beta has started, and a multitude of players now have access to the new content, which is set to go live in early 2026. However, to join, you will need a beta access – with a bit of luck, you may already have it.
WoW Midnight Beta – How to join
How to get beta access? If you want guaranteed access to the beta of World of Warcraft Midnight, you can simply buy it. Those who pre-order the “Epic Edition” get guaranteed access to the beta and can dive in immediately. However, it costs a hefty 90 Euros, and you should consider whether it’s worth it. We’ve listed exactly what else is included in the Epic Edition in this article.
Alternatively, you can register for the beta on the official WoW website. However, you will have to rely on luck, as not all applicants will be accepted.
How do I know if I have beta access? You can easily check this in the Battle.net launcher. Log in with your account, select World of Warcraft, and click on “Game Version & Account” at the bottom left. If you see the option “Midnight (Beta)” here, your account is already activated.
How do you play the beta of Midnight? To play the beta of Midnight, you first need to download it via the Battle.net launcher. Here’s how to do it:
- Open the Battle.net app
- Navigate to World of Warcraft
- Select “Beta of Midnight” under
Game Version & Account
- Click on Install
Once the beta client is downloaded, you can start the game and try out the new expansion.
What can already be tested? Unlike during the alpha phase, most of the content is already available in the beta. You can quest through the 4 revised and new areas and experience a large part of the story. You can also try out how the classes play, after Blizzard removed over 100 abilities. You also have access to the new pinnacle talents (“Apex Talents”) that unlock particularly powerful abilities at the end of your talent tree.
More content will follow a week later, including raids, the new transmog system, and the usual endgame features like “Mythic+”. New interface options will also be included, aimed at compensating for the removal of numerous addons.
