The release date of Diablo 4 on PC is an important topic in the community. According to Blizzard, however, the date is still far off. It seems that you will have to be patient. Will Blizzard announce the final release date only in 2020?
Update from February 5, 2021: All hopes for a release of Diablo 4 in 2021 have now been dashed. In a financial call regarding Q4 2020, Activision Blizzard explained what is planned for the future. They made it clear that neither Diablo 4 nor Overwatch 2 will have a planned release in 2021.
What was said about the release? On November 1, 2019, Blizzard introduced the new Diablo 4 with gameplay and story. Regarding the release date, they first took the wind out of the sails of high hopes and said: “Not soon, not even ‘Blizzard soon’.”
What does this mean for you? Based on this statement, one can only speculate. Few players expect a release at the earliest by the end of 2020, most likely later. Others want to give the game another two years:

“I suspect it won’t come before 2022. I am very surprised they are still listing the old consoles.
It’s just a shame that no D2 Remastered is coming… that would have made the waiting time much more pleasant.”
What does a leak say about the release? 2020, 2021, 2022?
What kind of leak is this? Already in July 2019, months before the official presentation, a leak on Reddit gained attention. The user Gorelight predicted the demo, the classes of the demo, a massive game world, and more details.
After the official reveal, many of the details of the leak turned out to be true. Therefore, the prediction about the release is now being credited with a certain credibility.
This is what the leak says about the release: In the post on Reddit, the user writes, “About the release, a discussion is going on between late 2020 and early 2021, depending on how development goes. Currently, early 2021 seems more likely.”
The leaker did not predict a late release in 2022.
Diablo 4 Release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One – What about Switch?
At the Diablo 4 panel, it was explained that the game is being developed for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Viewers wonder why the next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett were not mentioned.
Release on PS5 and Scarlett? The developers at Blizzard have not forgotten about the next-gen. On the contrary: A release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett is firmly on Blizzard’s agenda for Diablo 4.
However, since the release dates for Scarlett and PS5 are not yet known, Blizzard initially only confirmed the release on PS4 and Xbox One.
What about Nintendo Switch? A release of Diablo 4 for the Nintendo Switch has not yet been announced. Diablo 3 is now playable on the Switch, so the developers likely have a release of Diablo 4 on Switch in mind.
However, it is currently unclear how high a priority the release for Switch has and whether a port will actually be implemented.

How far is the development of Diablo 4 – When will the beta come?
How far is Diablo 4? At BlizzCon 2019, players on-site could already play an early version of D4. How far this demo is still from a beta version that opens up for players outside Blizzard’s fair remains to be seen.
This is what Blizzard says: The team behind Diablo 4 regularly exchanges ideas with the community. Strong changes have already been made to items. Ancient items are being removed from Diablo 4 based on fan feedback.
