This unique hand cannon is a classic. In Year One, it was one of the best weapons in PvP by far, which is why it made it to rank 4 in the presented Xur weapon list. In Year Two, it was even the most desired weapon from Xur.

Now, in Year 3, The Last Word has slipped down to the still strong fifth place. 33,457 votes and 9.01% of total votes.

It belongs to the archetype of low impact but high fire rate. The range is miserable:

However, unlike all other hand cannons, it can be fired in full-auto mode and offers special bonuses when fired from the hip. Guardians are meant to act with The Last Word like the stereotypical gunslingers from the Wild West: draw the gun, shoot, emerge victorious, and leave the enemy in the dust.

Even in the third year of Destiny, this attractive playstyle is still well-received. Hand cannons are not for everyone, but those who can handle them don’t want anything else.

By the way: The upcoming update 2.5.0.2 revamps hand cannons: Their range will be reduced by 5 meters, but they will have higher initial precision. They should not be “little sniper rifles”.
