In Destiny 2 you can obtain the pinnacle weapon Oxygen SG3 in Season 6. How you can get this in a relatively short time is explained here.
What kind of pinnacle weapon is this? In Destiny 2, pinnacle weapons are weapons that can be earned through the Vanguard, PvP, and Gambit, and are tied to elaborate quests. Each season there are three new pinnacle weapons that belong to the legendary quality and have unique perks.
In Season 6, the Oxygen SG3 is the pinnacle weapon of the Vanguard. It is also tied to a lengthy quest that takes you into various strike activities. However, you can speed up the path to the Oxygen SG3 with a trick.
The bounty quest for the Oxygen SG3
Here’s what you need to do for the pinnacle weapon: First, go to Commander Zavala in the Tower, who offers you the quest “Deployment”. Accept this. Now you need to master the Triumph “The Best Attack”, and once this is completed, Zavala will drop the Oxygen SG3.
This is “The Best Attack”: However, this Triumph is not easy to complete; instead, you must overcome several time-intensive tasks:
- Play enough Strikes / Nightfall Strikes until the bar is 100% full
- Achieve 1000 precision kills in Strikes / Nightfall Strikes
- Create 500 Orbs in Strikes / Nightfall Strikes
Trick to quickly get the Oxygen SG3
The quests for pinnacle weapons are designed to be mastered over the course of a season if you work on them continuously. The tasks for the Oxygen SG3 also sound very time-consuming; however, the user FairlyOddParent734 shows on reddit how you can obtain the weapon in less than 5 hours.
Step 1 – Complete enough Strikes: According to the user, you need to complete 75 normal Strikes to fill the bar to 100%. Nightfall Strikes contribute 5.5%, so about 18 Nightfall Strikes are necessary.
Since no one has time for 75 Strikes, you should choose the Nightfall “Foreign Terrain” (the Nokris Strike) in a fireteam of 3 Guardians and play it quickly 18 times in a row. This Nightfall is active this week, until March 12 at 6 PM.
With the Wardcliff Coil, which is quite strong in Season 6, this Nightfall can be completed in 5-6 minutes. Add about 2 minutes for loading time and the final discussion on top. Thus, it takes just over 2 hours to get the bar to 100% (7 minutes x 18 runs = 126 minutes for 18 runs).
Step 2 – Completing the remaining precision kills and collecting Orbs:
- Start the Strike “The Corrupted” directly.
- Equip a Masterwork kinetic weapon and a Masterwork energy weapon to create additional Orbs.
- Bring a Hunter with the Nightstalker subclass if possible.
- Instead of playing through the Strike, drive to the shore and then into the Blind Well.
- In there, you will continuously face enemies. Use the Harmony buff to quickly charge your Super. The Nightstalker is particularly useful now because it apparently doesn’t count for the Triumph how many Orbs you create, but how many times you trigger the text “Player generates x Orbs of Light”. The Nightstalker triggers the text directly 7 times per Super.
- Repeat this until you have 500 Orbs and 1000 precision kills. For the precision kills, you must be the one to fire the “deadly crit shot”.
Your strike team members will not be particularly happy about this action. Especially since they can only teleport you back into the strike once they reach the boss.
Therefore, you should change the time and date in the system settings (e.g., to tomorrow) so that you can enter the strike alone. Or you play in a fireteam of three and reach this goal together – which we recommend.
Note: Pick up the bounty from Zavala with all three characters. Since the weapon is tied to a Triumph, your progress counts for all three characters.
What can the Oxygen SG3 do?
This is the Oxygen SG3: It is a legendary scout rifle for the energy slot. The weapon deals solar damage and comes with the precision frame (180 rate of fire).
These are the perks:
- Meganeura: The Dragonfly perk deals additional damage based on the number of precision hits landed previously
- Dragonfly: Precision kills create an elemental damage explosion
- Improved Rounds: Increased range
- Polygonal Barrel: Increased stability

The Meganeura perk can stack up to 3 times (through 3 precision hits before a precision kill). According to the YouTuber Ehroar, Meganeura increases Dragonfly’s damage by 45% (1x), 134% (2x), and up to 180% (3x).
The Oxygen SG3 is a weapon that particularly appeals to fans of scout rifles. It is not outstanding, but it is quite useful in many situations. The explosions from Dragonfly can wipe out many things in close proximity, but scout rifles are currently not top-tier.
