The superhero and supervillain MMO DC Universe Online will soon receive a new powerset called “Munitions.”
A few days ago, Daybreak Game Company presented its new powerset “Munitions” to some US journalists. It features abilities of superheroes and supervillains that rely on pure firepower, like Deadshot or Arsenal. This would also appeal to 90s action heroes like Bruce Willis, Schwarzenegger, or Sylvester Stallone.
Conceptually, it is similar to the powerset “Gadgets.” It represents technology-based super beings but relies not on finesse like Batman, but really on firepower.
There will be two skill trees:
- In Guts conventional weapons will be available, albeit in exaggerated and comic-like form, including rocket launchers, shotguns, or a mini-nuke.
- In Glory, the focus will be on futuristic weapons like rail guns, particle cannons, and similar destructive instruments.
According to US journalists, “Munitions” is supposed to be the most mobile and active powerset yet. Players will have to switch between individual weapons to unlock special abilities. The gameplay is designed to simulate the feeling of a true Hollywood action blockbuster: “One weapon out of ammo? No problem, I’ll grab the next one.”
The powerset doesn’t have a release date yet. However, when it arrives, it is expected to be available for individual purchase. This aligns with the new policy of Daybreak Game Company to offer content in smaller portions.
DC Universe Online is available on PC, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4 as a free-to-play title.
