In chapter 3, you will receive a piece of land from the Margrave during the main quest to establish your camp for the gray manes. What starts off as minimal can be significantly expanded throughout the game.

Why is it worth having a camp? It’s worthwhile to quickly focus on expanding the camp because the larger your camp gets, the more gray manes will come as mercenaries for missions and provide various facilities like different equipment and food vendors for all kinds of situations and features of the game.

Especially handy is the storage chest you find there where you can store unneeded resources and equipment parts to save space in your inventory. Very late in the game, you can even expand your camp into a fortress – but this takes many hours and progress in the story before you can reach that.

So here you will learn how to expand your camp as quickly and efficiently as possible and how to get the most benefit from it.

Expand camp and gather gray manes

To expand your camp, you need to do various things:

Locate gray manes in the open world and bring them back
- Here you will receive rumors from your companions that will lead you to them
Complete their quests when they appear in the camp
- This will unlock their facilities, such as the blacksmith, the cook, etc.
Complete missions to expand the camp
- For this, you need to send your existing mercenaries with the necessary resources and advance the camp’s expansion. By completing the tasks, you will create space for more gray manes and institutions

Unfortunately, the game does not always indicate what you need to do next. If you ever find yourself at a loss, you can find the necessary tasks in your journal under the faction quests named ‘Reasons of the Dawn’. Check back there regularly to see if you need to complete anything and what needs to be done for it.

The quests are usually quick to complete, allowing you to work through them efficiently one after the other. If tasks add new facilities to your camp, you will recognize that in the journal by a small tent symbol (as seen in the screenshot marked with the quest).

Use missions effectively and farm resources passively

For some tasks, you need to send gray manes to missions and require the necessary resources for that. It’s best to do this by going to NPC Ross and selecting the mission management.

Here you have to look for the mission needed for the next step and complete it. However, to start it, you also need the necessary resources. You can either obtain them by donating unnecessary items from your inventory to Carl or, alternatively, acquire them through other missions, which is much more effective.

For this, select the appropriate missions and send the most suitable gray manes. Completing a mission takes some time – if you don’t want to wait, you can actively skip time in a bed.

Perfect missions for endless resources

Collecting the necessary resources can become tedious over time. Fortunately, there is a mission combination that allows you to collect resources continuously while you are not actively playing. For this, you need to do the following:

Send 2 watch missions (marked with a shield)
- This will continuously earn money for the camp
At least 1 mission for:
- Wood
- Food
- Stone
- Armor

Ensure to send gray manes that fit the mission as precisely as possible to take advantage of the maximum bonuses. This way, you won’t run out of resources, and you create an endless loop of missions that will generate resources in the long run.

Once missions are completed and you still have the necessary resources left, the expeditions will simply restart until you withdraw your companions or send them elsewhere.
