A new playlist update for Call of Duty: Warzone is live. This brings a new trio mode that changes much about CoD’s battle royale approach: It removes almost everything that makes Warzone special.
What kind of mode is this? On Friday, May 22, a new playlist update was released. This includes the trio mode “BR-3 classic,” which has been playable since.
The classic mode is pretty much exactly what it describes: a classic battle royale. All features that distinguished Warzone from other games in the genre have been removed:
Once you land, you have to find all the weapons yourself, and if you die, that’s it. Your team cannot revive you, and you cannot fight for a second chance in the Gulag.

Will the mode be permanent? Probably not. It is intended to be a “limited time experience,” meaning it will be temporarily available and will be removed from the rotation in a later update. However, it is possible that BR-3 classic may return at a later date.
Classic mode removes annoying feature
This annoying feature is disappearing: With the mid-season update from May 19, a change was introduced in the Gulag: Instead of just using pistols and shotguns, you can now face off with rapid-fire weapons.
This change, however, was not very well received. Many players find the new Gulag weapons simply terrible. Since the change, what used to be exciting duels in the Gulag has turned into boring camping.
However, since the classic mode does not have the Gulag at all, the new weapons will not annoy you here.
How does the mode change Warzone further? Without loadouts with the best weapons, you have to cope with the items you find. In the classic mode, it will be more important to fight and take opponents’ possibly better weapons. At the same time, you need to be more cautious, as there is no second chance.
Due to the lack of cash and contracts, you also cannot buy upgrades. So, some of the most important items that can be purchased are either completely inaccessible, or you have to find them in boxes.
If you want to gain a slight advantage in the classic mode, try to get into one of the bunkers. There, you will find plenty of strong loot. This is particularly helpful when no opponents are running into you and you have to go without upgrades for a while. Here you will find the locations of all bunkers in Warzone and how to open them.
