In an unplanned but quite spectacular maneuver, the Twitch streamer Summit1g caused himself and his team to be eliminated in Call of Duty: Warzone. His teammates in the round are Fortnite legends Ninja and Dr Lupo.
What exactly happened? When Summit1g, along with Ninja and Dr Lupo, played a round in the new Battle Royale Warzone, the three got into a helicopter together and flew over the map.
As they saw an enemy team attempting to escape with a different available vehicle, Summit1g took action. He grabbed his rocket launcher (a JOKR) and aimed.
The JOKR, like the recommended PILA, has a lock-on function, meaning it targets the enemy and the projectile goes off on its own. But when Summit1g fired the rocket, instead, their own helicopter blew up and the entire team found themselves in the Gulag.
Helicopters Cause Curiosities
How could that happen? Apparently, the aiming display, that is, the crosshair, did not align with what the projectile (the rocket) could actually hit. It looks like the rocket hit the model of the helicopter immediately after launch and blew it up.
He apologized to his teammates, as he didn’t know that you shouldn’t fire rockets from helicopters.
Interesting scenes with helicopters: This scene is not the first where a helicopter has caused quirky circumstances. MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus observed, how a player hid in a helicopter and thus finished second. Our readers also report similar.
Other players have found a way to spectacularly take down the flying vehicles with reconnaissance drones.
The helicopter incident is not the first time that Summit1g has been responsible for his team’s defeat. He has gained some notoriety for causing a loss due to a spectacular but foolish mistake:
- In 2016, he set himself on fire during a CS:GO tournament and thus lost an important game
- Ninja, on the other hand, had previously complained about Warzone – whether this action changes his attitude remains to be questioned
