Call of Duty: Warzone had a short-lived special mode that was very different from the actual Warzone. However, it disappeared again after only a few days – much to the chagrin of many fans.
What kind of mode is this? It is about the mode “BR-3er klassisch,” which was introduced with the playlist update on Friday, May 22. The classic BR mode returned to the roots of Battle Royale and removed all the features that make Warzone special:
- the Gulag
- Cash and shops
- Loadouts with custom weapons
- Contracts
- Respawns
In the classic mode, you had to play with the weapons and items you found. Buying loadouts or other important items was not possible. You would also have to watch your team if you died, as respawns were also removed.
The mode has now disappeared again. With the playlist update on May 26, BR-3er klassisch was removed. It was only active for a mere four days.
Players liked the mode – But not everyone
This appealed to the players: Many fans of the mode found it excessive that there are constantly drones (UAVs) and other killstreaks in the air in Warzone. This was not the case in the classic mode. Additionally, many players were likely happy not to have to deal with the annoying new Gulag weapons.
Moreover, the absence of perks meant that players could not constantly hide somewhere. There was no “Ghost” perk that allowed players to hide from the heart rate sensor, the best tactical item in Warzone, even though the sensor is not viewed positively by everyone.
In a thread on reddit, it is stated: “Classic BR would probably be perfect without the heart rate sensor and thermal sights.” However, other players disagree and say the mode is already perfect. Sensors are only a problem for campers.
MeinMMO readers were also enthusiastic about the mode and are now disappointed that it had to be removed again. Frank for instance says: “At least it could have stayed until the end of the season.” Season 3 is expected to end on June 2, and Season 4 will start on June 3. This annoyed the players: However, there was also criticism of the classic BR. The reddit user objectsubjectly writes: “Classic BR Trios remind us how boring regular BR modes are.”
He misses exactly all that which has disappeared from Warzone in this mode. While there are many players who agree that they like Warzone better, there are also a lot of counter-statements.
Apparently, the feedback for the classic mode was largely positive. Whether and when it will return, we cannot say yet. Given the positive response, a classic mode in the future is at least not ruled out, at least temporarily. Until then, you should check out the last update before Season 4, as it is really worth it.
