Many players are still not quite sure what to make of the new DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. If you need a reason to check it out: You can easily unlock weapons that you would otherwise only get through weapon levels – even for Modern Warfare 2.
With the DMZ mode, Call of Duty is trying its hand in the extraction shooter market. A PvEvP mode with strong NPCs, a focus on loot & equipment, and real players can emerge from around the corner at any time to cause chaos.
Many CoD fans are still not quite sure what to make of it. However, there are some good reasons to give the mode a try.
First of all, the new assault rifle M13B of Season 1 – you can only get it in the DMZ mode. But it turns out that you can even unlock all lootable weapons in this mode and use them forever. Even in the multiplayer of Modern Warfare 2.

How can I unlock weapons in DMZ mode? In the DMZ, it’s all about loot – you set a mission, follow your path, get distracted by exciting places, and then leave the map by helicopter.
All weapons you have in your inventory during extraction will also be unlocked in the gunsmith.
Don’t feel like playing the battle rifle Lachmann-762 just to unlock the MP5 (Lachmann-MP)? No problem: You can find the weapon everywhere in the DMZ.

If you find a “large backpack” during your loot tour, you can unlock up to 3 weapons in one go. This is possible in under 15 minutes – with a bit of luck, it can even be significantly faster.
What should I watch out for? If you haven’t touched the DMZ yet, don’t underestimate the NPCs. Their weapons are as strong as yours, and some motivated computer opponents come with strong hit rates.
The missions are not a walk in the park, and it can happen that the NPCs hit you hard. But still, it’s an excellent way to bypass the complicated unlocks in the gunsmith.
Just a few more tips: The unlocks also apply to Modern Warfare 2. If you get them in DMZ mode, you will also have them in the current CoD multiplayer.
If you also play together with friends who already have more weapons, they can bring a gunsmith weapon in the DMZ through the “Insured Slots”. If they are nice friends, they will give you the gun to extract, and you will unlock your desired weapons.
