With Season 2 Reloaded, a new weapon came to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, with which you can defeat the most annoying enemies, because: The “Soulrender” has a strong attack against riot shields.
What kind of weapon is this? The “Soulrender” is a melee weapon that allows you to slash your opponents. Especially against riot shields, the knife is supposed to be quite strong, as its powerful attack ensures that the shield no longer offers any protection.
How do I unlock the weapon? You will obtain the Soulrender in Sector B21 of the Battle Pass. You do not need to purchase it. The sector consists of five fields, with five rewards. You unlock the individual rewards by completing tasks. Once you have completed all tasks in the sector, you will receive the knife.
The following rewards and tasks are included in the sector:
- JAK Burnout Upgrade: Achieve 5 operator or special zombie kills with throwing knives
- Emblem “Bone Dome”: Achieve 10 operator or special zombie melee kills
- Double XP Token: Achieve 15 operator or special zombie kills with frag grenades or Semtex
- Camouflage “Grave Robber”: Achieve 5 operator or special zombie kills by striking with the rifle stock
- Weapon “Soulrender”: Earn all sector rewards + Achieve 10 operator or special zombie melee kills while crouched

Why is the weapon suitable against riot shields? Basically, players with riot shields are the most annoying opponents, because: Very little can get through the shield.
This means specifically that you either have to hit the enemy’s feet under the riot shield with a firearm, gain a height advantage, get behind them, or throw grenades and/or thermite to win a fight against the shield bearers.
However, the strong attack of the Soulrender rips the shield from the enemy in an animation and takes him out. You perform the attack by holding down your left mouse button briefly and “charging” the strike.
On X (formerly Twitter), the “Call of Duty” news account “DETONATED” posted a clip of the new melee weapon on March 7, stating: “The melee weapon ‘Soulrender’ goes THROUGH riot shields! Probably a bug, the ‘Soulrender’ can take out pesky riot shields! – it will be 100% fixed soon.”
In response, the developers said: “This is not a bug! The heavy attack of the Soulrender is, similar to the JAK-Limb Cutter and the JAK Purifier, an intentional counter to riot shields.”

How is the new melee weapon being received? The new weapon seems to be well received. Many players appear to be looking forward to testing it against enemy players with riot shields. In the comments on a post on X by “CharlieIntel”, one user expresses happiness that the developers are introducing weapons that can counter other weapons.
Another user comments: “Thank goodness, these ‘turtles’ are at the end now.” Someone writes: “Surely we all agree that the riot shield [players] deserve this.” And one user comments with a laughing emote: “Imagine if you could use the sword and the shield at the same time – that would be funny.”
In one comment, a user notes that he ran at the riot shield bearer with the knife, and he thought he was hacking because the attack “went right through him.”
How the knife will perform and whether it can also be useful in Call of Duty: Warzone remains to be seen.
In Warzone, not only players with riot shields are annoying, but especially campers who barricade themselves in buildings and surprise you with their shotgun or sniper.
