What is the RAM-7 as a weapon? This assault rifle was introduced as part of the Battle Pass for Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and is modeled after the Israeli infantry rifle TAR-21.
The weapon offers similar stats to the M4 and can be considered a direct competitor to the currently strongest assault rifle.
The RAM-7 is my favorite among the assault rifles, and I want to show you how this bullpup weapon can even outperform the M4.
RAM-7 Stats – TTK to Reload Time
The RAM-7 has the same damage profile as the M4 but can achieve quicker kills due to its higher fire rate. However, the weapon loses strength over distance sooner.
The kill values and damage apply to torso hits.
| Value | RAM-7 | M4A1 |
| Fire Rate | 882 rounds/minute | 800 rounds/minute |
| Damage/up to meters | 28/26 – 23/42 – 18 | 28/27 – 23/50 – 18 |
| Rounds for Kill | 4 to 6 | 4 to 6 |
| Time-to-Kill (TTK) | 204 ms (4 rounds) | 225 ms (4 rounds) |
| Reload Time | 1.62 (1.27 with perk) | 1.39 (0.98) |

The Best Attachments, Setups, and Builds for the RAM-7
How do I best modify the weapon? The RAM-7 has two major issues that you should compensate for with attachments – stability and rounds.
In return, it delivers a lot of damage with a high fire rate, and the TTK is about 10% shorter than that of the M4. However, the magazine comes in M4 size and empties quickly. Opt for the 45-round magazine or take Dexterity to counter this.
Moreover, the weapon feels a bit wobbly without stability attachments and strange, as it pulls to the left instead of the right, unlike all other assault rifles. So, plan for at least one attachment for recoil control in your builds.
Class Setup 1 – For Beginners
- Optic: Mini Reflex Sight Cronen LP945 – Level 3
- Perk: Dexterity – Level 13
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip – Level 4
- Grip: Granulated Grip Tape – Level 22
What is this setup good for? With this setup, you can get a relatively stable version of the somewhat wobbly assault rifle early on.
With the small optic, you can benefit from the weapon’s high aiming speed, and the Commando Foregrip gives the RAM-7 a bit of steadiness. The grip tape then adds extra control to the shot, making the weapon accurate.
What else fits into the build? You can ease the transition to the new weapon with the right perks.
- Blue Perk: Overkill – Take a secondary weapon you are already familiar with.
- Red Perk: Hardline – This makes it easier to get killstreaks and launch reconnaissance drones often.
- Yellow Perk: Eager – This allows you to switch to your secondary weapon faster.
- Field Upgrade: Ammo Box – The RAM-7 burns through rounds, so you can reload here.
Class Setup 2 – RAMBO-7 for Fans
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolithic)
- Laser: Tactical Laser
- Optic: Gunslinger Reflex Sight
- Underbarrel: Tactical Foregrip
- Perk: Dexterity

What is this setup good for? With this attachment combination, you get a good, balanced assault rifle.
I personally prefer to use the RAM-7 this way. The weapon feels smooth in hand, and the aiming speed is exceptionally fast for an AR. The silencer increases the range by about 7.5% and you can achieve kills beyond 30 m with 4 hits.
Despite the high aiming speed, you are still at a disadvantage to SMGs at close range. However, the advantage is not too great, so keep firing and hope to be a moment quicker.
What else fits into the build? This build is designed for long-term survival and is well-suited for game modes with missions, such as Domination or HQ.
- Blue Perk: Looting – The RAM-7 devours rounds, so loot as much as you can.
- Red Perk: Kill Chain – Boost your killstreak and with this perk even higher – With Auto-Sentry and V-TOL towards Juggernaut.
- Yellow Perk: Scout – This prevents enemy explosives from surprising you.
- Field Upgrade: Special Ammo – With this stuff in the magazine, you can get 3-shot kills at nearly 30 meters and also get 30 rounds for your reserve.
Class Setup 3 – Workhorse for Experts
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolithic)
- Barrel: FORGE TAC Eclipse
- Laser: 1mW Laser
- Ammo: 45-Round Magazine
- Grip: Textured Grip Tape

What is this setup good for? This setup comes from “TheXclusiveAce” and extracts the most from the weapon, but sacrifices important recoil control. This combination is a bit harder to play, but you get maximum range paired with high ADS speed.
The silencer and barrel together increase the range by about 30%, and the weapon deals full damage even at nearly 34 meters. Without an optic and with the help of the grip tape, you have a very fast aiming speed and the laser helps with hip fire.
For the ammunition, “TheXclusiveAce” takes a different route and prefers to use the 45-round magazine, accepting a trade-off in movement.
What else fits into the build? Suitable ninja perks allow you to survive behind enemy lines with this fast and powerful weapon.
- Blue Perk: KRD – You can survive claymores and grenades to the surprise of the enemy and hack nasty trip mines.
- Red Perk: Ghost – Combined with the silencer, you are almost invisible to enemy technology.
- Yellow Perk: Reload – Field upgrades reload much faster, allowing you to move stealthily and quickly.
- Field Upgrade: Dead Silence – You can use this stealth ability more often thanks to Reload.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the Battle Pass Weapon from Season 1
RAM-7 vs M4A1 – Which Assault Rifle Takes the Lead
How does the weapon compare to the M4? The RAM-7 delivers hard hits, feels pleasant after a few rounds, and can easily compete with the M4. This assault rifle is worth trying out if you like the M4, as it performs better up to about 34 meters.
What’s the catch? However, there is a significant advantage to the M4, which is its attachments. The M4 already comes with a higher range, and with barrel attachments, you can increase the damage range at which you can take out opponents with 4 rounds by 30 – 40%, and with a silencer even up to nearly 40 meters, where it also feels more stable.
Although the RAM-7 also has a barrel for a 40% range increase (XRK Ranger), it costs you 4 frames for the time to aim down sights and thus takes away its biggest advantage. If you need more range, take the FTAC Eclipse. It gives you +25% and only costs 1 frame.

M4 is not irreplaceable, but flexible
What else can compete with the M4? The M4 is a typical all-rounder, and in some situations, specialized tools offer better performance.
- The AK-47 has more range and is the queen of hardcore.
- MP5 – Builds for short distances and a little beyond.
- PKM – The best machine gun with attachments and builds.
Ultimately, it comes down to your personal playstyle and preferences. But don’t disregard the currently strongest weapons and experiment. Almost all weapons in Modern Warfare play well and have their niche, and perhaps your next favorite weapon is just 3 matches away.
What do you think about the RAM-7? Do you prefer to stick with the M4 or are you playing something else?
