Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has a release date. With an unusual presentation, they showed the release date – and first characters.
When will the game be released? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28, 2022. The developers officially announced this.
However, the way of the reveal was unusual: Instead of a typical gameplay or cinematic trailer, they sent a huge cargo ship into the port of Long Beach and filmed the whole thing.
Several graphics were placed on the ship, some on the containers it was transporting.
The crazy action, including the release date, was then shown by the Call of Duty team in a video:
CoD: Modern Warfare 2 introduces its main characters
This is what to see: In the video, several well-known and one new face can be seen. These are 5 operators who will likely take on the lead roles in the new CoD: Modern Warfare 2.
The “Task Force 141” consists of:
- Simon “Ghost” Riley
- Captain John Price
- Kile “Gaz” Garrick
- John “Soap” MacTavish
- Alejandro Vargas
All five characters can be seen here in a tweet from developer Infinity Ward.
While Ghost, Price, Gaz, and Soap are likely familiar to any long-time CoD fan, Alejandro Vargas is a newcomer to the task force.
Legendary operators also played a role in CoD Warzone – and in CoD: MW from 2019, references to the “old” Modern Warfare games could also be found.
Now the story will likely continue seamlessly into CoD: Modern Warfare 2.
What is already known about MW2? Besides the now-known release date and characters, there is hardly any official information about the game so far. What is certain is that it will be a continuation of CoD MW 2019 – and that Infinity Ward is once again leading the development of the game.
There is also supposed to be a connection to Warzone again, as has been the case with the last CoD titles.
In addition, there are numerous leaks and rumors that do not yet represent any official information. You can find an overview of all rumors and information around CoD: MW 2 here.
