On the night of January 24, a new update for Borderlands 3 was released. The hotfix brought only small changes, one of which is very well received by players.
What did the patch bring? The new patch was released simultaneously for PC, PS4, and Xbox One and essentially brought three changes:
- A texture for the Fire Badass and Super Badass Varkid was updated.
- The rewards from chests at the end of the trial area have been adjusted. Upon completing all objectives, it now includes the highest legendary drop rate in the game.
- Additionally, the Gamma Burst skill has been improved. The bonus radiation damage from FL4K’s active Gamma Burst was increased from 65% to 115%.
In addition, there were some bug fixes that prevented progress in the missions “Sanctuary” and “Hammerlock.” Ember was also fixed, as it sometimes did not appear to continue the missions. You can find the full patch notes here.
When will there be another major update? On reddit, many are happy about the small hotfix, but they are also waiting for a larger update that will adjust performance and bring larger balance changes.
The last such update was with patch 5 on December 12, 2019.
Additionally, Borderlands 3 will receive new content in 2020 in the form of events and upcoming DLCs. There will also be an announcement along with a roadmap in January.
Players love the buff for FL4K
How do players react to the changes to FL4K? The buff to the Gamma Burst skill for FL4K is well received by many players on reddit. Previously, a Gamma build was considered one of the weaker options for FL4K.
Players now believe that FL4K will also be viable for the big challenge Mayhem 4 with Gamma Burst:
- Bear_T: “I cry tears of joy. I had hoped for a Gamma buff, just like Zane’s SNTNL at 100%. Now it’s even 115%. It’s finally going to be playable in M4. Thank you!
- ImNotRyanCallahan: “I am happy about the Gamma Burst, it was the least useful option for FL4K in M4. I’m still not sure if it’s good enough now, but I can’t wait to try it out.”
- BeardedWinder0: “I saved all my Gamma Burst equipment for this day! 110% is amazing!”
How do they react to the additional loot? The changes to the chests at the end of the trial area are being discussed a bit more controversially.
Many found the chests rewarding enough already, which is why they see the buff as unnecessary. They would have preferred buffs for the rewards from trial bosses:
- stevembk: “The chests from the trial area were always more rewarding than the final bosses.”
- doutten: “Players are increasingly running through the trial area during the Farm Fever Event for the class mods and Gearbox concludes from this that the loot chests at the end need a buff?”
Other players, however, do not see a big problem here. For them, more loot is always good in the shooter.
