Steam Release Date: When is Borderlands 3 coming out?
When can you play Borderlands 3 on Steam? Borderlands 3 will be released on March 13 on Steam. It will be playable from 3:00 PM. So don’t be surprised if the game isn’t running in the morning.
Pre-load and download size: The pre-load for Borderlands 3 started on March 10. However, the game will still only be playable from March 13. Players with slower internet connections might benefit from a pre-load: The game requires 75 GB of storage space.
Is Borderlands 3 playable offline? You can also play Borderlands 3 in offline mode. However, a one-time internet connection is required to verify the purchase. Additionally, patches and hotfixes can only be downloaded with an internet connection.

How much does Borderlands 3 cost on Steam? The official prices for Borderlands 3 on Steam are now known:
- Borderlands 3: €59.99
- Borderlands 3 – Digital Deluxe Edition: €79.99
- Borderlands 3 – Super Deluxe Edition: €99.99
At launch, however, all three versions are reduced by 50%. This offer is valid only until March 20.
The Deluxe Edition includes digital content such as cosmetics. The Super Deluxe Edition includes the Season Pass, which brings all 4 DLCs. All 4 will be released, along with many other contents, by the end of 2020. These include “Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot” and “Love, Guns & Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock“. The second DLC will be released on March 26.
Can I play Steam DLCs with the Epic version? DLCs only work with the base version from the same launcher. So if you already own the Epic Games Store version, you should buy DLCs only there, and not on Steam. The same applies vice versa. However, there will be other crossplay features.
Borderlands 3: Crossplay between Steam and Epic
How does crossplay between Steam and Epic Games Store work? There will be several crossplay features. Among other things, you can play with Epic Store players via the Shift player search if you have the Steam version. If PC crossplay is enabled, you can arrange to play with all PC players via player search and game invites.
Is there cross save? You will be able to transfer save data between Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, you have to move them manually; there is no automatic cross save. The developers emphasize that this process risks a potential loss of game progress and therefore a backup copy should be created beforehand.
Can you mail weapons? At the launch of the Steam version, you will only be able to send weapons to other Steam users. Weapon trading between the Epic Games Store and Steam is not possible via the mail system initially. A future patch is expected to resolve this as soon as possible.
Is there crossplay with PS4 and Xbox One? For now, there will be no crossplay with the console versions of Borderlands 3.
