In Borderlands 3, a new update has been added that gives players access to plenty of content. Among other things, an increase in the level cap is included – but this does not only cause enthusiasm.
What’s happening right now in Borderlands 3: Although Borderlands 3 is not a “true” games-as-a-service game, it is continuously supplied with new content, events, and improvements through hotfixes and updates.
The latest update is again one of the larger ones of its kind. One of the features that many players have been eagerly anticipating and have positively received is the new crossplay component.
Players on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, Stadia, and PC can now play Borderlands 3 together. Meanwhile, PlayStation players are left out, which was already known beforehand.
Permanent events and new level cap spark discussions
What else is in the update: In addition to crossplay, the popular “Revenge of the Cartels” event returns, celebrated by players last year. Also, MeinMMO author Jürgen Horn fought his way through Joey Ultraviolet’s stylish villa numerous times last time.
At the same time, a new option is added: From now on, players can play the three important seasonal events in Borderlands 3 at any time and turn them on or off as desired. This means:
- Bloody Harvest
- Heartbreak Day
- and Revenge of the Cartels
are now accessible at any time. This also applies to the special loot from all three events, which can be obtained from the respective bosses. The community is quite pleased with this – however, there is also a new level cap.
This is what the new level cap looks like: The new upper limit is level 72, a full 7 levels higher than before. This allows for new builds with which players can remodel their vault hunters. At the same time, this also means that the previous loot at max level is no longer current.
Moreover, adjustments have also been made to the weapon anointments, which can also affect previously crafted builds. For example, there was an anointment that dealt 300% damage to enemies with over 90% health. This has now been reduced to 150%. This is not well received by everyone.
This is how the community reacts: In the Borderlands 3 subreddit, there are quite mixed opinions about the update. While some of the content is celebrated, others do not spark excitement everywhere.

At the same time, the update is likely a good time for players who have taken a long break to jump back in. After all, one can now obtain almost every important weapon and work their way up to a new level.
Those waiting for new content from the world of Borderlands can look forward to another game: The spin-off “Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands” has been announced and throws the Borderlands gameplay into a fantasy setting.
