The game series Diablo has been around for several years. However, the titular boss enemy has been keeping a low profile in recent years. The demon lord made his last appearance in Diablo 3, which was first released in 2012. Now the powerful adversary is set to return – but not in the game you’re probably hoping for.
What we know about the return of Diablo: Diablo, the Lord of Terror, will return to Sanctuary on December 13, 2024. However, not in the current main game of the series, Diablo 4, but in the Mobile Game Diablo Immortal, which has been controversially received by many players.
Blizzard promises the “biggest and worst boss battle” of the game so far and aims to initiate the narrative climax of the 2.5-year story of Diablo Immortal with an “epic decision battle.”
Diablo himself is said to use some well-known abilities in battle, but also new powers. In addition, Blizzard reveals that the battle is expected to have high intensity and opponent density.
Meanwhile, Season 6 is running in Diablo 4. Here you can see a trailer:
Diablo appears in the wrong Diablo
Why is it the wrong Diablo? Diablo Immortal is not popular with all hardcore Diablo fans. It is a free-to-play game that can only be played on PC and mobile devices and relies heavily on in-game purchases. Since the release of the action RPG, there have also been strong, ongoing P2W allegations against Diablo Immortal.
In contrast, Diablo 4 is actually the big new title of the popular franchise. As it is a main series game, players pay full price to be able to play it on their consoles or gaming PCs. The same applies to large expansions like Vessel of Hatred.
Overall, players expect regular large content updates for Diablo 4. They desire new classes, dungeons, systems, and bosses – in short, content that keeps them engaged. Content that Diablo Immortal is partially receiving: Blizzard is bringing the first new class for Diablo in over 9 years, but for the wrong Diablo
What else is coming? Diablo will appear as part of the Destroyed Sanctuary
update in Diablo Immortal. In addition to the Lord of Terror, you can look forward to a new zone called “World Crown,” where some familiar enemies from the Diablo series are expected to wait – including a boss from Diablo 1.
Additionally, new challenge dungeons will be introduced that will impose random modifiers on you and promise additional rewards. Furthermore, the Reliquary of Hell will be expanded with new boss fights.
In Diablo 4, the seventh season of the action RPG will begin in January 2025 and, of course, will again bring new features as well as a season mechanic. We have summarized when exactly it will start and what content the update will offer on MeinMMO: Diablo 4 Season 7: Start date, PTR, and content
